In the role of Regional Business Manager, you directly support the company’s goals for sales and revenue growth through developing and implementing a yearly strategic plan for the Ball Seed Canadian sales region. The Regional Business Manager leads a team of independent contractor sales representatives and collaborates with other members of the regional business team to support the customers and suppliers in the region. This role is key in the development and implementation of yearly strategic plans for the region.
Job Responsibilities
- Deliver sales and margin growth across the region through effective market, territory, and account leadership.
- Direct territory planning and performance to maximize Sales Representative effectiveness and regional results.
- Lead management of key regional accounts, strengthening relationships with top customers to drive long-term growth.
- Oversee pricing and margin strategy to enhance profitability and market position.
- Assess market opportunities and implement targeted plans to increase share across each territory.
- Execute strategic regional initiatives in alignment with broader business objectives.
- Partner cross-functionally with Supply, Pricing, Credit, and Customer Service to drive effective communication among the regional team in support of the Sales Force and customers in the region
- Promote strong communication and collaboration across the regional team to ensure excellent customer and sales support.
- Coach and develop Sales Representatives to strengthen territory performance and deliver sales and margin growth.
- Lead annual business reviews and territory planning processes to identify priorities and drive execution.
- Guide teams toward high-impact activities that support territory plans, account strategies, and regional business goals.
- Maintain strong knowledge of national and regional retail programs to support sales strategy and customer success.
- Play an active role in planning and executing regional customer and industry events to strengthen market presence and relationships.
- Recruit, onboard, and develop new Sales Representatives to build a strong and capable regional team.
- Manage territory transitions, including new representative onboarding and succession planning for retiring team members.
- Lead the Ball Superior Team by overseeing the office staff and innovating in new ways to serve customers.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Horticulture or related field
- Proven Sales Management and Leadership experience with minimum of 5 years of sales management experience in the horticulture industry
- Understanding of the ornamental horticulture business
- Ability to travel 30 to 40% internationally and domestically
- Responsible for operating budget
- Based in Canada
- Bilingual - preferred French & English
- Demonstrated ability to perform effectively in a dynamic, evolving environment with changing priorities.
- Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and build strong partnerships to achieve shared business goals.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate future opportunities and translate them into actionable plans.
- Strong customer focus with a track record of building lasting relationships and delivering solutions that meet customer needs.
Salary Range
$180-230K CAD
Physical Requirements
A combination of office related tasks and walking through/standing in greenhouses with customers and sales representatives. May involve minimal lifting.
