About the role
POSITION: Region of Halton MHSW Facilities Technician
Experience, Qualifications & Education
- Post-secondary degree /diploma degree required (In the field of chemistry or environmental would be an asset.)
- Two (2) years of MHSW, chemistry or relevant experience.
- Valid G License and own transportation is mandatory as depots are typically located outside of public transportation.
Working Conditions
- You will be required to work Monday to Friday, from 8:00am – 4:30pm
- Saturday & Sunday shifts may be required during the summer season.
- The Region of Halton MHSW Depot is closed on statutory holidays, including the Civic Holiday, except for Boxing Day
WORK REQUIREMENTS:
- Responsible for the operation of the Region of Halton MHSW Depot.
- Provide excellent customer service to residents visiting the depot.
- Responsible for safety of all workers, public, and visitors to the site
- Perform physically demanding work.
- Identify, sort, and pack waste chemicals into appropriate storage containers.
- Weigh each material on-site (eg. drums, gaylords, 20L Pails, etc…) and input the weights in the computer inventory tracking system.
- Maintain clean grounds and facility.
- Comply with all rules and regulations to do with operating the depot.
- Have good communication skills to deal with Region of Halton Representatives, and the public.
- Report to and receive authorization from the MHSW Program Lead
