What the role is all about:
WinSport is seeking energetic and passionate individuals for the position Summer Camp Instructors. If you have a genuine interest in coaching youth, physical literacy, and playing sport outdoors in the sun, we invite you to apply.
Instructors adapt their approach based on the age, ability, and interests of participants. Younger groups (ages 4–8) are guided through play-based exploration and discovery, while older groups (ages 9–15) experience more skill development, structured activities, and games to practice those news skills.
We are hiring for a number of positions in programming that spans a variety of summer activities. The Summer Camp programs we are looking to find instructors for include:
**Sport:**Sport Camps offer fun, active outdoor experiences where children and youth explore a variety of sports including basketball, gagaball, soccer, volleyball, and field games. Our guiding principles are building social connections, skills, and develop confidence through play and movement.
**Wilderness:**Wilderness Camps immerse children and youth in outdoor experiences that deepen their connection to nature, build practical outdoor awareness, and strengthen social connections through shared exploration and adventure. Wilderness 9-15 age groups will head to Kananaskis each week to take their learned skills into the mountains.

What you will be doing:
Program Execution
-
Adhere to program policies and procedures, manage and escalate through the correct channels if required.
-
Ensure the safety, well-being, and exceptional experience of participants aged 4-15.
-
Plan, lead, and modify outdoor-based programs daily, operating independently as a group leader and collaboratively with others.
-
Setup and teardown programs/equipment on an hourly and daily basis.
-
Supervision and instruction of up to 12 children.
-
Demonstrate attention to detail, and maintain accurate records, including recording each child’s attendance, participant information, and secure pick-up code for safety.
Leading Children and Youth
-
Be a role model for youth aged 4-15 and for fellow team members of various ages.
-
Mediate conflicts amongst participants, consistently and fairly.
-
Participate in the play!
Communication
-
Communicate in ways that empower campers and team members when providing feedback.
-
Communicate professionally with parents/guardians.
-
Vary communications styles to best fit the audience.
-
Other Duties as Required
What you bring:
-
Must be available for mandatory staff training from June 22 to 26, 2026.
-
Must be available for mandatory coach training from June 2 to 4, 2026.
-
Must be available Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, from June 29 to August 28, 2026, for at least 7 of the 9 weeks of summer camps.
-
Must be available specifically for Weeks 2 and 3 of summer camps, July 6 to 10 and July 13 to 17, 2026.
-
Current criminal record check with vulnerable sector search
-
Current Standard (Intermediate) First Aid and CPR level C certification
-
Experience coaching or instructing is considered an asset.
-
Experience working with children and youth in camp or day program environment is an asset.

Experience and/or Background in the activity which your camp is focused on (Sport or Outdoors/Wilderness)

Applicants for 9-15 age groups in Wilderness must be age 18+
Work Conditions:
-
40-44 Hours per week
-
Ability to run, walk, and jump for long periods of time.
-
Ability to work outside for long periods of time in various weather conditions.
-
Full-time, in-person availability is required.
-
Maintain a high level of positive energy throughout the day.
-
The job is frequently expected to lift, carry, throw, push, or pull objects (sporting equipment).

The Bill Warren Training Centre (BWTC) opened in January 1994. The facility provides fitness training and support services to Nordic athletes and the public. The BWTC is located at the Canmore Nordic Centre. It was the host site of the cross-country skiing and biathlon events at the 1988 Olympic Winter Games.
