Job Description

As a Functional Analyst, you will play a key role in ensuring that solutions are aligned with user needs. You will act as a bridge between business and technical teams, ensuring effective communication and a shared understanding of objectives. This position requires strong analytical and communication skills to gather the information needed to produce documentation, as well as a solid understanding of mechanical, electronic, firmware, and software business processes and the technologies involved.

In a physical product development context (cellular cameras and accessories), the Functional Analyst also contributes to aligning user experience with hardware, firmware, and mechanical constraints, as well as with product development milestones.

Responsibilities

Requirements Analysis

  • Analyze and document business objectives and functional / non-functional requirements in collaboration with the Product Owner (PO) and stakeholders.
  • Translate user needs into actionable requirements for integrated systems combining hardware, firmware, and software.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Meet with key users to understand their objectives and challenges.
  • Work closely with firmware, electronics, mechanical, quality, and industrialization teams to ensure a shared understanding of constraints and challenges.

Requirements Documentation

  • Create detailed functional and technical specifications, including use cases and validation criteria.
  • Produce experience flows, field usage scenarios, and clear acceptance criteria for each sub-phase and development milestone (POC, EVT, DVT, PVT, production).

Developer Support

  • Clarify specifications, answer technical questions, and collaborate on necessary adjustments based on technical constraints.
  • Act as a convergence point between functional needs and technical realities (power consumption, performance, hardware limitations, firmware behavior).

Testing & Validation

  • Collaborate with the quality team to define functional tests and validate results.
  • Contribute to defining acceptance criteria that objectively determine the completion of a deliverable or development milestone.

Post‑Production Follow‑Up

  • Provide functional support after solution deployment and propose continuous improvements based on user feedback analysis.
  • Analyze field feedback on physical products (reliability, installation experience, real-world usage) to inform future iterations.

Change Management

  • Document and track changes to functional requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Assess the impact of changes on timelines, costs, technical risks, and product development milestones.

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of business processes and technological challenges.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to facilitate workshops.
  • Ability to write clear functional and technical specifications.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and proficiency with project management tools (e.g., JIRA).
  • Team player with the ability to deliver results in time-sensitive environments.
  • Ability to structure measurable and verifiable acceptance criteria for each stage of the development lifecycle.
  • Comfortable working in a multidisciplinary environment combining hardware, firmware, mechanics, and software.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical Engineering, Information Systems Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree in Information Technology, Project Management, or Business Administration (MBA) is an asset.
  • Experience or strong understanding of embedded systems, electronics, firmware, or physical product development is a strong asset.
  • More than 4 years of experience in a similar role, with proven experience in writing specifications.
  • Fluency in French and English, both written and spoken
