About the role
Job Description As Technical Officer, Industrialization, you will help carry out modernization plans for the shipyard, from project execution to supporting the selection and installation of various components. More specifically, you will:
- Coordinate the implementation phases of shipyard modernization projects, which encompass multiple improvement initiatives for the Operations and Production Departments.
- Identify and support internal and external stakeholders by ensuring they have the resources, information, and guidance needed to carry out project activities.
- Prepare and coordinate project documentation and organize meetings with relevant stakeholders.
- Research, analyze, and consolidate information on equipment from various suppliers to support decision-making.
- Recommend equipment and installation options that uphold safety standards, ergonomics, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure employees receive clear work instructions and appropriate training to operate equipment and materials safely and competently.
- Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to verify that installations and equipment meet required specifications.
- Work closely with project managers and functional departments to keep project documentation and reporting up to date.
- Coordinate and participate in meetings to support effective decision-making when challenges arise.
- Provide regular data and reports outlining required actions, decisions, and deliverables to ensure the project remains on schedule.
Requirements
- Diploma of College Studies (DCS) in Industrial Engineering an/or Electrical Engineering Technology: Automation and Controls.
OR undergraduate degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or an equivalent field
- Experience in construction or improvement projects within an industrial environment.
- Advanced proficiency in English (written and spoken), required for regular communication with English-speaking clients.
- Strong ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects at once.
- Independent, creative, and resourceful.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and experience in developing and executing action plans.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
- Successfully complete the investigation and security clearance process required by the federal government’s Contract Security Program.
