Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Working Facility Supervisor, Casual Facility Utility Workers perform various event set up/take down, janitorial, housekeeping and operations tasks. In the absence of the Supervisor, Facility Utility Workers may receive instruction from the Facility Utility Worker Lead and the General Manager or their designate.

This role pays an hourly rate of $23.48 CAD (per CBA).

Benefits as per the union agreement.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform tasks to keep the facility, furnishings, fixturing and equipment in good shape.
  • Set up and tear down of facility equipment for events ensuring compliance with event work orders and event needs.
  • Work from general instructions and specifications, with minimal supervision.
  • Ensure that the building’s cleanliness, interior and exterior, and the day-to-day janitorial needs are met and maintained.
  • Operate forklifts, high-lifts, floor scrubbers, janitorial and other equipment as required in the performance of their duties.
  • Assist other operational departments under their guidance as required, in the repair and maintenance of the building and its equipment or performance of their duties.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work–staff, contractors, and facility users.
  • Work effectively in a service-oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities.
  • Work a flexible schedule including early mornings, days, evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays, extended work days and extended numbers of days
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in working at a multi use facility.
  • High school diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Possession of or the ability to obtain, a current CPR certificate.
  • Possession of or the ability to obtain, a valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of customer services practices.
