The Opportunity
Assist the Production Supervisor in coordinating activities of workers engaged in assembly and metal fabrication. This position acts to support safe and efficient operation of the team through training, communication, troubleshooting and organization.
Responsibilities:

Support continuous improvement initiatives
-
Demonstrate a positive attitude towards change and company vision
-
Act as liaison between department supervisor, team members and engineering team (custom jobs)
-
Direct communication with maintenance regarding issues with equipment and inform supervisors
-
Help coordinate labour, job boards and equipment resources to promote maximum efficiency and meet scheduling demands
-
Be proactive in requirements regarding material, tool and inventory needs
-
Organization of daily and ad hoc tasks of team members
-
Listen to team member’s feedback and resolve issues. Inform supervisor of any conflict
-
Monitor team performance and report repeat issues to supervisor
-
Collaborate with other lead hands and supervisor on scheduling to meet overtime needs (as required)
-
Provide in depth understanding of department process to be able to help direct flow of production
-
Follow all SOP’s and SWI’s required for the department
-
Perform technical requirements in several roles of the department including assembly, sub-assembly, checks and calibration, testing, tool use, machine set up and unload
-
General knowledge of ERP and oversight of the job completion process
-
Ensure all required paperwork is stocked and available (ie. scrap tickets, shift reports)
-
Assist employees with UKG concerns not pertaining to employees pay ie. time off requests
-
Be a leader in quality output, set an example for team members to follow
-
Ensure quality checks of products are completed as required
-
Monitor team members for completion of required PM’s and calibrations for their machines and tools
-
Direct communication regarding quality concerns with appropriate department
-
Ensure team members are completing and using Kanban cards and job orders properly
Qualifications:
-
High school diploma or equivalent
-
1-3 years' progressive experience in assembly field preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations, to supervisors and to co-workers of the organization.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Interpret blueprints and read tape measures.
