About the Position:
This strategic leadership role is responsible for driving growth and innovation in the Water Treatment industry across Western Canada. The Industry Manager will lead a technical team, oversee supplier and portfolio development, and collaborate cross-functionally to execute a robust commercial strategy. With a focus on market expansion, operational integration, and customer success, this position plays a critical role in shaping the future of water treatment solutions in the region.
Location: Edmonton, AB (some alternative location flexibility within Western Canada region upon request)
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Growth:

Define and execute the strategic roadmap for the Water Treatment industry in Western Canada.

Lead the development of the Water Treatment component of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) with a clear mandate to grow both vertical and horizontal market segments over the next three years.

Monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to inform strategy and identify growth opportunities.
-
Prepare and submit a Monthly Operating Report summarizing performance, key activities, challenges, and strategic progress.
Team Leadership:

Lead a small technical team responsible for supporting customer-facing activities and opportunity development.
-
Ensure the team is aligned with strategic objectives and equipped to deliver high-impact technical support.
Technical Team Responsibilities:
-
Drive the opportunity pipeline by identifying and developing new business opportunities.
-
Support Account Managers in customer engagements with technical expertise.
-
Conduct jar testing, water analysis, and other field-based services to support solution development.
Portfolio, Supplier & Process Integration:
-
Oversee supplier relationships, ensuring alignment with business objectives and performance standards.
-
Identify and evaluate new suppliers and chemistries to expand and enhance the water treatment product portfolio.
-
Lead the authorization process for new technologies and solutions to ensure readiness for market deployment.

Develop a strong understanding of internal quality, operational, and supply chain processes to:

Bridge gaps in new product onboarding and strategic supply initiatives.
-
Support opportunity closure by aligning internal capabilities with customer expectations.
Commercial Strategy & Profitability:

Partner with Product Management to define pricing strategies and manage profitability across the water treatment portfolio.

Ensure commercial decisions are informed by market dynamics, cost structures, and customer value.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Work closely with internal stakeholders including Sales, Technical Services, Operations, and Product Management to align execution with strategic goals.

Enable cross-functional teams with insights, tools, and direction to support customer success and market growth.
KPIs & Performance Metrics:
The Industry Manager will be evaluated against the following key performance indicators:

Revenue Growth: Year-over-year growth in water treatment sales, margin and volume across vertical and horizontal markets.

Opportunity Pipeline: Volume and value of qualified opportunities generated by the technical and commercial teams.
-
Portfolio Expansion: Number of new products, chemistries, or suppliers successfully onboarded and commercialized.

Customer Engagement: Improvement in customer satisfaction scores and retention rates within water treatment accounts.
-
Team Performance: Technical team effectiveness in supporting sales, measured through internal feedback and customer impact.

Strategic Execution: Progress against AOP targets and strategic initiatives, including market development and supplier alignment.

Reporting Discipline: Timely and insightful submission of Monthly Operating Reports that inform leadership decisions.

Operational Integration: Effectiveness in navigating internal processes to accelerate product onboarding and support opportunity closure.

Profitability Management: Contribution to pricing strategy and margin improvement through collaboration with Product Management.
Qualifications:

Industry Experience: Minimum 5–7 years in the water treatment industry or related, with exposure to both municipal and industrial markets.

Leadership: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive strategic initiatives.
-
Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of water treatment technologies, chemistries, and field applications.
-
Commercial Insight: Experience in pricing strategy, supplier management, and portfolio development.

Operational Fluency: Familiarity with internal quality, supply chain, and operational processes to support product onboarding and customer delivery.

Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret market data, financial metrics, and performance indicators to inform decisions.

Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence across levels and functions.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Business, or equivalent work experience.

Mobility: Willingness to travel across the Western Canada region as required.
