About the role

Job Description:

High high-rise Wall and ceiling layout person is responsible for accurately laying out and marking locations for steel studs and related framing components according to construction drawings, specifications, and building codes. This role ensures that framing is precise, efficient, and ready for assembly and overall project quality.

What will you do?

  • Interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine stud layout and placement.
  • Measure, mark, and layout steel studs for walls, partitions, doors, ceilings, bulkheads and other framing elements.
  • Ensure layouts comply with design specifications, trade interactions and related documents.
  • Coordinate with project managers, foremen, and installation crews to confirm layout plans and sequence of work.
  • Check for proper alignment, plumb, and level after installation completes.
  • Identify and report discrepancies or potential issues in design or measurements.
  • Collaborate with other trades (electricians, HVAC, drywall installers) to ensure accurate placement of framing in relation to openings, conduits, and utilities.
  • Follow all workplace safety regulations and procedures.
  • Create and submit as built mark up’s, attend site coordination meetings and collaborate with site personnel to provide the highest quality product while maintaining schedule.

What will you bring?

  • Proven experience in steel stud layout, framing, or related construction work.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of measuring tools, levels, lasers, and other layout equipment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and spatial awareness.
  • Basic understanding of construction codes and safety practices.
  • Physical ability to work on construction sites, including bending, kneeling, and lifting steel components.
  • Strong communication skills for coordination with team members and supervisors.

Education / Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school training in construction or steel framing is a plus.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in steel stud layout or related framing work preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed on construction sites, often indoors or partially enclosed spaces.
  • May involve working at heights, on scaffolding, or in tight spaces.
  • Work will be completed solo or with a helper.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toe boots is required.
