We are currently seeking a high-quality, detail-oriented Senior CAD Technician to join our team.

What does a typical day look like for our Senior CAD Technician? Your day starts in our Waterloo office where you are collaborating with our Project Engineers and Project Managers in the design of airfield electrical infrastructure projects for private airports, regional and international airports. Specifically, most of your time is spent designing power distribution, runway/taxiway ground lighting, runway approach lighting, airfield guidance signs, field electrical centers and associated project components through the development of design drawings, design documentation and technical reports.
Additional duties would include: Prepare and review detailed drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D Develop plans, profiles, sections, and details for civil and airfield projects Translate engineering concepts and data into accurate and high-quality drawings Support multidisciplinary coordination (civil, electrical, planning, etc) Maintain and enforce company CAD standards across all projects Review drawings for accuracy, compliance, and consistency Support ongoing updates to standards, templates, and drafting workflows Collaborate closely with engineers and project managers to meet deadlines Assist in preparing tender drawings and technical documentation Support troubleshooting of design and drafting issues during project delivery Manage shared CAD resources Provide QA/QC checks on drawings prior to issuance Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians and designers Lead by example in drafting quality, efficiency, and best practices Support onboarding and training initiatives related to CAD standards
What do we need from you? Our best fit for this role would be a self-starter who has experience in airfield electrical engineering and is known for seeing ahead of the curve, getting in front of problems before they arise. Required skills and experience we are seeking: Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting, or related field. 8+ years of experience in CAD drafting within engineering or infrastructure projects. Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D. Strong understanding of drafting standards, layering systems, and drawing controls. Experience with aviation, municipal, or transportation projects is an asset. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement. Comfortable mentoring and supporting others.
