Job Summary
Responsible for ensuring a healthy and safe environment for the hospital staff, patients, volunteers, physicians and visitors which includes ensuring protection of hospital possessions and property; performing routine checks of systems and equipment.
Qualifications and Experience
- Graduate of a Community College Law and Security Program, or
- Graduate of a recognized police training facility or equivalent.
- Current certification with Private Investigator’s and Security Act (Bill 159 legislation).
- Three years of previous experience in dealing with the general public in a law and/or security role preferred.
- Current use of force and/or non-violent crisis intervention training an asset.
- Knowledge and experience dealing with those under the Mental Health Act.
- Experience with security technology and access control systems.
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated note taking and report writing skills.
- Proven ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written English instructions.
- Exhibits confidence, assertiveness and control behaviours.
- Demonstrated conflict resolution skills.
- Able to meet the physical demands of the job with a tolerance for continuance walking
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service and teamwork.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize workloads and manage stressful work environments.

Hours of Work: In order to provide the necessary patient care, our operations run 24/7. There is the expectation that you are available to work weekdays, weekends and all shifts (days, nights, 12 hours).
