About the Role
We are currently looking for a Network & Security Administrator to fill a vacancy and join our Information Technology Team. Reporting to the Supervisor, Infrastructure & Security, this role will be responsible for the reliable, secure operation of Semex’s global network and infrastructure environment, providing advanced network, systems, and security administration across on premises and cloud platforms. The role also serves as the network owner and escalation authority for third party SOC 24×7 threat detection, investigation, guided remediation, and incident response.
What You Will Do:
- Provide administration for the following systems:
- Microsoft Active Directory Domain (Hybrid)
- Support for Microsoft Exchange, Office365, MS Teams, Hyper-V, Remote Desktop Services, Dynamics AX, WAP, ADFS, and CRM
- SonicWall Firewalls, including security policy management, threat prevention, and VPN services
- HPE Switching hardware (Commware, Procurve and Aruba)
- HPE Aruba wireless systems (Aruba Central)
- Ubiquiti P2P wireless devices
- Support for additional internal systems and platforms as required to maintain operational continuity
- Monitor and maintain server and network health, performance, and availability using Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) and related monitoring tools; proactively identify and remediate issues before service impact occurs.
- Implement and follow Disaster Recovery policies and procedures; make recommendations for improvements of identified gaps/risks.
- Lead risk identification, assessment, and mitigation activities by reviewing SOC alerts, vulnerability findings, and incident trends; translate security intelligence into actionable remediation plans and prioritized risk reduction initiatives.
- Provide technical leadership for Tier 2/3 escalations, supports operational decision making, and drives continuous improvement through standards, documentation, and adoption of best practices and emerging technologies.
- Administer system storage by monitoring server-based disk, SAN and NAS usage and adjusting where necessary, ensuring maximum time online.
- Administer and enforce operating system patching and device firmware lifecycle management across servers, network devices, and endpoints to maintain security, stability, and compliance with organizational standards and risk tolerance.
- Implement and follow Disaster Recovery policies and procedures; make recommendations for improvements of identified gaps/risks.
- Administer endpoint firewalls policies and IPSec VPN tunnels - Administer all remote access.
What You Need to Succeed:
- College diploma in Information Technology, Network Administration, or Information Security, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- CompTIA Network+, Security+, or equivalent networking/security certification.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in network and security administration within an enterprise or multi-site environment.
- Microsoft certifications such as Azure Administrator Associate, Security Operations Analyst, or Identity and Access Administrator.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience administering enterprise networking and security infrastructure, including firewalls, switching, wireless, and secure remote access.
- Experience supporting hybrid Microsoft environments, including Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure / Entra ID, and identity security controls.
- Experience implementing and enforcing security best practices, including patching, vulnerability management, MFA, conditional access, and access controls.
- Familiarity with risk management, security monitoring, and audit readiness in a production environment.
- Firewall or networking vendor certifications are an asset.
- Exceptional, accountability, attention to detail, communication (technical & non-technical), adaptability and integrity.

Work Location & Minimum Pay Rate
This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in our Guelph location. This position offers a minimum starting salary of $75,000, with potential compensation enhancements based on applicable experience and qualifications. Please note, this role requires the participation in on-call rotation to provide support a a 24×7 operational environment, responding to high priority incidents and coordinating resolution across infrastructure, security, and teams as required.
