About the Role:
The Facility Operator provides effective coordination, implementation and delivery of facility operations within all centres in the Edmonton region. Key elements of this position include the maintenance and refurbishment of the centre, equipment and grounds. The Operator will monitor, evaluate and make recommendations regarding current facility operation services in coordination with the Facility Operations Manager.
Responsibilities:
Service Delivery
- Assist Facility Operations Manager with the planning and execution of refurbishment plans.
- Ensure preventative and ongoing maintenance and repair of centre equipment, mechanical equipment, building structures, pool operation and other equipment as assigned.
- Coordinate and schedule third-party contract work for repairs and maintenance.
- Maintain facility records and track maintenance repairs in Asset Software.
- Work within the approved operational refurbishment budget. Monitor expenditures and submission of purchase orders, visa receipts, mileage expenses, work orders and other expenses to Finance within the month of expense.
- Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies on a regular basis and order additional supplies as required.
- Maintain certification and training in required areas.
- Working weekly with the General Manager to prioritize and complete repair or maintenance tasks.
- Monitor pool chemistry and water quality maintaining within acceptable ranges, perform ongoing preventative maintenance.
Health and Safety
- Maintains a safe and supportive environment by following YMCA Health Safety Child Protection and Emergency Policies and Procedures.
- Ensure safe, proper use of tools and equipment according to safe work practices and regulatory documentation.
- Ensure contractors follow YMCA health and safety guidelines and OHS regulations.
Administrative Duties
- Complete administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Holds 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate.
- Confined Space Certification and Pool Operator Level 1 & 2 an asset but training will be provided.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in building maintenance and operations.
- Experience in the following: plumbing, electrical, pool operation, carpentry, diagnostics and painting, Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and operations preferred.
- Able to obtain a Police Information Check and Vulnerable sector check.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office and other forms of technology effective.
- Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle. Travel between centres will be required.
- Flexibility required - work evenings, weekends and on-call.
- Works well with team in a customer service capacity.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Computer Skills (Windows, MS Office, Teams).
