Job Description
Reporting to the Manager, Facilities, the incumbent will work as a part of the Engineering and Maintenance team in a complex electrical systems environment to maintain, repair, install, replace and test electrical/electronic circuits, equipment and appliances in support of ongoing operations.
Accountabilities:

Carry out routine inspections, repairs and maintenance for all electrical equipment and systems throughout the facility in accordance with applicable codes
-
Regularly inspect, test and repair as required: fire alarm systems (if certified), lighting systems, door access systems and alarms, paging systems, call bell systems, safety equipment, HVAC systems and computers, other building equipment and machinery
-
Installs electrical systems and equipment as part of normal maintenance and minor renovation projects
-
Create and maintain accurate records according to legislative requirements and departmental policies
-
As part of the fire response team, responds to fire alarms and operates fire alarm equipment
-
On a rotating basis, provide onsite and stand-by general maintenance coverage for the facility. Such coverage to include minor maintenance plumbing and other general repairs and adjustments
Qualifications
-
Minimum secondary school graduate plus completion of trade and apprenticeship program required
-
Valid and current Ontario certificate of qualification as an electrician, 309A required (442A preferred)
-
Fire Alarm Technician certificate an asset
-
5-10 years recent related experience as an electrician, preferably in a hospital/health care/institutional setting
-
Experience with industrial control systems preferred
-
Extensive experience performing electrical/electronic installations, trouble-shooting, problem solving and repairs
-
Understanding of all applicable legislation, regulations and building codes related to electrical safety and applications
-
Able to work from blueprints, sketches, manuals
-
Ability to perform all tasks with minimal supervision
-
Must be fluent in English with good communication skills
-
A demonstrated high degree of computer literacy required
-
Demonstrated ability to use hand tools, power tools and test equipment of the trade
-
Comfortable working in an acute care hospital environment
-
Ability to work independently and as a team member
-
Demonstrated ability to bend, crawl, lift heavy items: climb and work from ladders and scaffolding as well as willingness to work in areas that are cold, hot, dusty, dirty and noisy and amongst machinery at elevated levels and cramped quarters

Additional Information
Hours: Currently Days, 8 hour shifts plus on call and rotational weekend from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)
Salary:
Minimum: $33.44 per hour
Maximum: $36.18 per hour
