Job Description

As a Closure Design release Engineer, you will lead the development of critical rear-vehicle systems, ensuring they meet rigorous safety, functional, and manufacturing standards.

Key Responsibilities:

-Design & Development: Responsible for the engineering, design, development, timing, and release ofrear body closure sheet metal(e.g., liftgates, decklids, or tailgates) and associatedhinging systems. -Validation: Manage the development and validation of assigned components; communicate technical product status and competitor benchmarking to management. -Cross-Functional Coordination: Lead packaging coordination with adjacent departments includingelectromechanical (latches/cinching motors),electrical (harnessing), lighting (taillamps), and interior/exterior trim. -Virtual Performance: Work closely with virtual validation groups to ensure theCAE scorecardis met and verify manufacturing feasibility. -Quality Documentation: Maintain and updateDVP&R(Design Verification Plan & Report) andDFMEA(Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis). -Supplier Management: Support and manage suppliers for quality actions and Value Optimization (VO) activities. -Collaborative Alignment: Support meetings during NA work hours and collaborate with local engineering, Architecture/Vehicle Concepts, and program science teams to align iterative models with packaging and system requirements.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical

  • Engineering, or an equivalent ABET-accredited program.

  • Experience: Minimum of3 yearsof relevant automotive engineering experience.

  • Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge ofUnigraphics NXandTeamcenter.

  • Technical Expertise: Intermediate to advanced experience inBody-in-White (BIW), Rear Closures, or Exterior Systems.

  • Materials & Process :

    • Experience withcompositesand composite production processes.
    • Experience withsteel and aluminum formingprocesses.
    • Knowledge of high-strength steels, weld parameters, andGD&T.
  • Manufacturing: PreviousBIW in-plant launch experienceis highly preferred.

  • Risk Management: Proven experience withDFMEAandDVP&Rprotocols.
