Job Description:
Overview
This position performs a variety of general labourer duties. This is a temporary full-time position (40 hours per week) from approximately June 29th to September 7th. Priority for interviews will be given to current and returning staff. Interviews for new applicants will follow.
This position will travel between four different locations (Idlewood Pool, Wilson Pool, and Harry Class Pool, Kiwanis Park and Pool).
Responsibilities
- Empties exterior recycling and garbage receptacles from various locations throughout the park.
- Sorts and sets out recycling at curb on appropriate day.
- Places garbage bags in dumpsters.
- Pick up litter and debris.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Vacuums and scrubs pool basin and scrubs pool deck daily.
- Cleans pool fouling as required.
- Cleans and disinfects sinks countertops toilets urinals mirrors and stalls.
- Replenishes supplies.
- Refills cleaning bottles with solution from dispenser.
- Restock paper towel and toilet paper dispensers.
- Empties interior garbage receptacles.
- Receives and responds to calls throughout the day to assist facility staff.
- Maintains flower beds; plants water and provides general care and maintenance of plant material.
- Ensures safe use condition and storage of equipment.
- Recognizes and takes action to correct and/or report customer service concerns incidents problems and emergencies; contacts supervisor security and emergency personnel as required.
- Ropes off and marks sites for rental group bookings.
- Sets up garbage and recycling receptacles picnic tables and sports related equipment for rental group bookings.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education
Minimum equivalent to partial secondary school education.
Experience
1 month of related experience.
Additional Requirements
- Enrolled in secondary or post secondary school and returning to school in the next semester.
- Access to reliable personal transportation for the full duration of employment to travel to various locations across the City.
- Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Willing to work in a team environment and have a willingness to accept directions.
- Ability to perform physical labour.
- Strong customer service skills.
