Job Title: Designer

Department(s): Art

Reports to: Senior Art Director

Status: 12 month fixed term contract

Location: 22 Adelaide Street West, Toronto

The Designer will identify key cover elements and marketing objectives by assessing and discussing concept briefs with the Senior Art Director and creating enticing marketable book covers! In this role, you will work to create book covers for a wide range of imprints. This role also requires you to be an active voice in the art briefing process with Marketing and Editorial in discussing cover direction.

Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with Associate Director, Senior Art Director, and Production Art.
  • Develop and create cover concepts and final images in photoshop, and illustrator using stock photography and vector-based images

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years design/photoshop experience
  • Degree or equivalent in Graphic Design
  • Proficiency in a MAC environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
  • Ability to work independently, or collaborate when necessary
  • Strong Image editing / retouching ability
  • Excellent typography skills
  • Ability to work with AI tools in Photoshop and Adobe Firefly
