Who We AreKichton Construction LP., (KCLP) is the Fort McMurray based Heavy Civil entity within the Kichton Group of Companies. Kichton Construction LP commenced operations in 2019 as the industrial division of the Kichton Group to serve the energy and mining industries throughout North America. Since inception, KCLP has grown sustainably and exponentially, starting with 30 experienced team members in 2019, to over 400 team members and 300 pieces of heavy equipment. KCLP is proud to continue operating alongside our community partner, the Chipewyan Prairie First Nation, as part of our NOHA/Kichton joint venture. The RoleWe are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance arm of our business, which includes our vehicle fleet, heavy equipment/iron and rentals. The ideal candidate has oilsands, industrial and heavy civil construction/maintenance experience. This position reports into the Fort McMurray Area Manager.
He/she is ideally a ticketed Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician with a strong "hand's on" mentality and technical expertise to mentor and lead heavy equipment technicians and automotive service technicians in the shop and the field. He/she knows machinery and mining operations inside out but is also tech savvy with experience setting up inventory/asset/fleet/equipment systems to automate and modernize processes. The ideal candidate has B2W (Bid2Win) software experience and can use data and analytics from the software to optimize the entire equipment and inventory process to maximize efficiency and lower costs.
This position is full-time, year-round work based out of our Fort McMurray shop and will require regular visits to various project sites throughout Alberta. We are looking for a leader with expert mechanical knowledge that can take a proactive approach to managing maintenance schedules, supervising staff, and troubleshooting issues as they arise.

Currently working at the Fort Hills mine ~90 kms North of Fort McMurray.

Monday to Friday 8 to 12 hours per day, some work on weekends required
Responsibilities/Duties
-
Oversee the Company’s Maintenance Division.
-
Provide leadership, training, mentorship, and as necessary, corrective action to Direct Reports which includes Field Maintenance Shop Supervisors and Maintenance Coordinators and indirect reports include, shop and yard staff, HET's, AST’s, preventative maintenance, fuel and lube personnel and steamers.

Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the maintenance division including all heavy equipment, fleet vehicles and rentals, ensuring they are maintained to the highest standards.

Create and report daily on downed equipment to determine overall utilization percentages.

Track and report costs associated with manpower, subcontractors, parts, rentals, down time, rebuilds, service, etc.

Ensure safety, including focused/planned inspections and work observations, to ensure they meet or exceed company and industry standards.

Ensure effective execution of work orders.
-
Develop and implement maintenance schedules and safety protocols for all facilities.
-
Plan and execute all planned and unmanned maintenance.
-
Supervise and support facility staff, provide training and guidance as needed.
-
Ensure compliance with all local, provincial and federal guidelines.
-
Participate in safety meetings.
-
Monitor and control rental equipment utilization and idle time.
-
Configure B2W software - adding all assets, developing workflows and processes, creating efficiencies. Use data collected to drive decision making leading to increased shop efficiency reducing costs.

Coordinate billable work orders.

Perform additional duties as required
Education/Qualifications/Training
-
Minimum of 7 years' experience in similar position.
-
Minimum of 7 years of construction experience required preferably in oilsands/mining.
-
Worked on of have knowledge of the Fort Hills mining operation considered an asset.
-
Journeyperson HET certification strongly preferred.
-
Experience with B2W software is strongly preferred.
-
CSO, hydrogen sulphide awareness, silica awareness, OH&S legislation awareness, WB wildlife awareness, WB wildlife intermediate and TDG required (we can provide).

Has a good driver's abstract with a valid class 5 driver's license.
-
Able to work on site - up to 50% of the time.
-
Can pass a drug and alcohol pre-employment test.

- A master planner and scheduler – manpower, repairs, service.
- Excellent organization, time management and prioritization skills - our maintenance department has almost 50 team members and up to 300 pieces of equipment.

Our work ranges from residential earthworks, commercial site development to industrial projects.
