About the role
The Senior Accountant is responsible for conducting the full accounting cycle process for various departments and entities within Triple Five including West Edmonton Mall and its parks and attractions.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintaining a portfolio of AR Files with tenants of West Edmonton Mall, collecting as per the lease agreement. Key responsibilities include reconciliation of complex tenant accounts and following up on the collection and allocation of payments. Performing full cycle accounting for various business entities within Triple Five including; preparation of deposits, entering data, reconciling bank accounts, maintaining general ledgers, etc. Designing and implementing accounting controls and procedures while preparing invoices and tracking all related accounts receivable and accounts payable records. Preparing budgets and financial statements and reporting and presenting yearly, monthly and/or ad hoc financial reports to the Controller and Executive Management. Providing accounting related input into new projects as needed through analysis of financial statements and/or researching accounting information systems and tax treatments for potential acquisitions. Supporting Junior Accountants in providing advice and guidance for operations and delegating work-loads. Other responsibilities as required.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of a diploma or degree in Accounting from a recognized post-secondary institution and working towards a CMA, CGA or CA designation in an asset. Three (3) to five (5) years-experience in a Senior Accounting role or similar position. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel and Outlook with the ability to efficiently learn and use new software programs. Outstanding interpersonal skills, a professional demeanor and a high level of confidence in the workplace with previous experience leading a team. Ability to take initiative, work independently when required, multi-task, think logically and complete detailed work with a high degree of accuracy.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a full-time position that is required to work Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 5pm. This is a salaried position that will depend on experience and qualifications. This position is eligible for participation in our 4-day work week program. Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
