About the role

Transdev is now hiring Red Seal–certified Heavy Duty Equipment Technicians, Truck and Transport Mechanics, or Automotive Service Technicians for our Abbotsford/Chilliwack, British Columbia locations!

We are seeking permanent, casual mechanics. We are offering a competitive hourly rate starting at $54.27/hr! Full time hours available!

Your role:

  • Lead preventative maintenance inspections (PMIs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections.

  • Handle routine repairs, including oil and tire changes, and write detailed inspection reports and repair plans.

  • Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle and equipment repair under minimal supervision, including brakes, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, and transmission clutches.

  • Work on fuel injection, hydraulics, and electronics.

  • Clean, lubricate, and conduct routine maintenance on equipment.

  • Remove, overhaul and reinstall mechanical components with minimal supervision.

  • Complete work orders properly and accurately, maintaining detailed records of all maintenance performed and parts used.

  • Move vehicles safely between job and work areas and perform test drives to ensure proper performance.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work station and ensure the overall mechanic shop is kept in accordance with company standards.

  • Notify supervisors of dangerous equipment and corrective actions taken, and report major safety observations.

  • Contribute to the team’s knowledge base for repairing various fleet vehicles.

  • Follow all of Transdev’s standards, policies, and procedures.

  • Perform other responsibilities or tasks as requested or required.

Your Profile:

  • Red Seal–certified Heavy Duty Equipment Technician, Truck and Transport Mechanic, or Automotive Service Technician.

  • Valid Class 5 (BC) Driver’s License with air brake endorsement.

  • CVSE Inspection certification (or willing to acquire).

  • Air conditioning maintenance certification, or willingness to obtain within three (3) months of hire.

  • Valid Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Certification, or willingness to obtain within three (3) months of hire.

  • Equipped with a complete and appropriate set of mechanic’s tools.

  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient in using computers and maintenance software systems.

  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Flexible and available to work assigned shifts, including evenings and weekends.

  • Hands-on experience working with diesel vehicles and gasoline.

Your Location:

  • This unionized position is based in Abbotsford, BC.

  • The role follows a 4-days-on or 5-days-on, with 8 OR 10-hour shifts.

  • The current schedule is Wednesday to Saturday, from 2:00 PM to 1:00 AM. Shift schedule may change depending operational needs.

  • Flexibility to travel to a nearby sister location (Chilliwack) will be required.
