Manager, Health Initiatives (One Year Contract)

Job Summary
Reporting to the Director Health Initiatives, the Health Initiatives Manager is responsible for supporting the development, delivery and execution of new and existing strategic health initiatives under the Strategic Programs portfolio to achieve targets and drive portfolio growth. The Health Initiatives Manager demonstrates strong project management skills, strategic thinking, and has an extensive background working in the healthcare sector with strong connections in and knowledge of the Ontario Health Network and partners.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Director Health Initiatives, in collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders including the Ministry of Health, Ontario Health and the Ontario Health Network, to support the definition, development and oversight of program criteria, processes including review, administration, specifications, and evaluation tools to drive procurement of health technologies in Ontario.
- Provide operational support to implement, manage and deliver health initiatives under the strategic programs’ portfolio, working collaboratively across the organization to meet targets and deliverables, organizational objectives and the evolving needs of stakeholders.
- Outreach to a broad range of health and life sciences stakeholders across Ontario, including globally leading technology companies, SMEs, Ontario Health Network and Partners and others.
- Supports the coordination between project partners, acting as a liaison and facilitator between multiple health and life sciences stakeholders to ensure projects meet targets, expectations and the desired outcomes.
- Develop and manage baseline processes, procedures and templates for the health initiatives, ensuring consistent, efficient, transparent processes are in place that provide a robust audit trail.
- Manage the development and implementation of monitoring and reporting mechanisms to track the progress and impact of the initiatives and regularly analyze data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Interface and liaise with stakeholders; work cross-functionally across departments, to assemble resources; work cooperatively and collaboratively with other OCI staff to ensure successful delivery of projects or initiatives.
- Identify, develop, and manage initiative outcomes, collaborating with the Marketing & Communications team to create success stories.
- Provide regular updates to senior leadership, communicating opportunities and escalating risks when appropriate.
- Keep abreast of industry trends and developments, incorporating best practices and new innovations into the health initiatives where appropriate.
- May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5-7 years of related experience in the health and life sciences sector.
- Formal, specialized post-graduate education in Technology or Business related to health and life sciences.
- Strong knowledge of and existing connections within the Ontario Health Network and partners.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Extensive stakeholder management experience with the ability to manage strategic and multi-party partnerships.
- Highly developed interpretive and analytical skills.
- Impeccable work ethic, highly motivated and passionate, and clearly driven by success.
- Team player and self-starter who can consistently accomplish critical organizational objectives on time.
- Distinctive problem solving and analytical skills and impeccable business judgement.
- Occasional work required outside of normal business hours, including attendance at occasional external events.
- Occasional travel (10-20%) within Ontario to visit healthcare stakeholders around the province.
- Knowledge of working elements in the public sector and Ontario’s innovation ecosystem would be an asset.
- Bilingual (French and English) an asset.
