About the role
What You'll Be Doing:
Reporting to the Head of Human Resources Stifel Canada, the detail-oriented and experienced Payroll & Benefits Administrator will be responsible for assisting in the full range of human resources and managing the payroll and benefits function for our employees. The ideal candidate will have experience using Dayforce (Ceridian) and a strong understanding of general ledger (GL) accounting. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, benefits administration, and reconciliation of payroll-related financial data.

Note – This position is based at our Toronto office location and is currently a hybrid role (can change with notice). The current hybrid model involves 3 days in the office and 2 days working remotely. Must be flexible with starting their shift earlier or end their shift later than anticipated based on business needs at any given time.
What We're Looking For:
The Payroll and Benefits Administrator will be responsible for the following tasks:
Payroll & Benefits
- Oversee the full cycle of semi-monthly payroll process for multiple provinces including Quebec using Dayforce (Ceridian) software; ensuring we are delivering a timely, consistent and accurate payroll;
- Maintain payroll records, including new hires, terminations, ROE’s, salary changes etc;
- Own the payroll year-end processes including T4s, RL-1 and payroll reconciliations. Identifies opportunities and makes recommendations for efficiency and scalability;
- Ensure payroll is in compliance with federal and provincial tax and regulations. Support stakeholder (Finance, Auditors) with payroll requests and reconciliations;
- Complete payroll related journal entries in Oracle on monthly basis;
- Oversee payroll related account reconciliations (including managing payables related to confidential and/or sensitive matters);
- Main point of contact for employees and managers regarding payroll and benefit issues;
- Manage all functions of employee benefits administration including: enrolments, terminations, profile changes, and employee benefits claims;
- Responsible for processing monthly benefits bills (wires and Oracle GL journal entries); and
- Responsible for renewal of employee health and dental benefits on annual basis.
Human Resources
- Manage and administer the full HRIS system using Dayforce (Ceridian);
- Develop custom reports to meet the requirements of company management and staff;
- Assist with quarterly vacation audit process;
- Assist with Ad-Hoc reporting and HR related projects; and
- Provide day-to-day assistance to the Head of Human Resources as required.

- Basic accounting skills;
- Collaborative and proactive approach; creative thinking, think outside the box;
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and to exercise discretion and professionalism with sensitive information;
- Professional, responsible, and positive work attitude; and
- Fluent in English; French is an asset but not required.
Education & Experience:
- Minimum Required: College or University degree/diploma with a focus in HR, Business or Accounting is preferred as well as professional certification of Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is considered an asset;
- Proven experience as a payroll coordinator/administrator, minimum 2+ years’ experience;
- Proven and recurring success and experience managing full cycle payroll using Dayforce and benefits programs;
- Processing the full payroll cycle using Dayforce is highly preferred; and
- Oracle experience (journal entry booking) is a plus.

- Strong in Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint;
- Dayforce (Ceridian);
- Oracle; and
- Manulife.
