Position Summary

Casual Part-time Support Staff, new position

The School of Health & Life Sciences is seeking Part-Time Curriculum Developers to design courses within the following program.

  • Perioperative Nursing Graduate Certificate

The successful candidate(s) will be responsible for creating, reviewing, and revising course outlines for five courses in the Perioperative Graduate Certificate program. All course outlines will align with ORNAC (Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada) standards and reflect current perioperative best practices.

The Part-Time Curriculum Developer will follow the guidelines and processes of Conestoga’s School of Health & Life Sciences and receive course development and technical support throughout their work.

Successful candidates will conduct work remotely within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. Applications will be provided to the hiring team weekly. Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.

Responsibilities

  • Design new course material or conduct major course revisions
  • Develop course outcomes, content topics, unit outcomes, resources, instructional plan, evaluation matrix, evaluation description statement, and eConestoga course shell
  • Attend preliminary and regular check-in meetings with a Program and Course Development Consultant
  • Collaborate with appropriate internal departments (e.g. Curriculum Operations)
  • Effectively manage a series of folders and document versions
  • Produce and submit content and activities weekly
  • Engage in the final review and sign-off of each course module
  • Revise course outlines, evaluations, resources and content

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in nursing is required
  • Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • A minimum of four years of Operating Room clinical experience is required
  • Adult or post-secondary level teaching experience is considered an asset
  • Experience with curriculum development in adult education and post-secondary contexts is an asset
  • Demonstrated capability to write and create text-based and multimedia learning materials
  • Strong leadership skills and commitment to academic excellence, superior time and project management skills to meet required deadlines
  • Proficient in computer systems (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Knowledge and experience using learning management systems (e.g., D2L) is an asset
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, intercultural, and collaborative skills
  • Able to work independently with little direct supervision
  • Strong commitment to academic excellence, student success, and ability to support Conestoga’s continuous quality improvement initiatives
