Job Title: Financial Reporting Analyst
Location: Markham, Ontario
Employment Type: Hybrid Office and Home-based working model
Job Summary
The Financial Reporting Analyst is a key role within our Finance team, delivering key financial reporting information and analysis to support the Underwriting Team.
We are looking for an analytical professional who will provide ongoing financial reporting information to our Pool Member stakeholders, head office and when required, to our President of Global Canada. As we strive to modernize our processes, we seek to provide enhanced client satisfaction by delivering top and bottom-line results.
The expected compensation for this position falls within 85-95K annually. Compensation is determined based on a combination of skills, and experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare quarterly financial reports to key stakeholders, including Pool Members, Fronting Companies and Head Office (for consolidation purposes)
- Maintain General Ledgers & Trial Balances for the Insurance Operations of the Company (Pools)
- Ensuring monthly, quarterly and annual reporting is met according to pre-determined timelines
- Prepare quarterly surplus cash settlements/cash calls for all Global Canada Pools to head office
- Complete various reconciliation processes to confirm balances for Global Canada Pools reporting and present to various internal groups
- Assist with year-end audits (internal / external) and actuarial requests, coordinating with various departments and ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures
- Perform other ad hoc financial reporting projects as assigned and requested by Management
- Assist to prepare different detailed analysis of large data set using various MS tools
- Assist with maintaining updated policies in compliance and internal controls
- Ongoing liaison with Claims, Underwriters and the Underwriting Support team
- Act as back up support for various tasks; claims payment processes, month end and quarter end reporting
- Support business initiatives on various system projects
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Advanced Excel skills are a requirement (pivot tables, complex excel formulas, MS power tools, or other)
- Experience working with large volumes of data and analysing trends
- Knowledge of standard software packages e.g., Word, PowerPoint, OneNote
- Working experience of Microsoft Dynamics or equivalent General Ledger System
- Knowledge of accepted accounting principles, requirements and practices
Required Education Level(s):
- Graduate at degree level
- CPA qualified (or nearing completion), with minimum 3-4 yrs practical reporting experience
- Other relevant Insurance Accounting experience
- Relevant project management experience
- AR background knowledge helpful
