About the role

Job Summary And Requirements This posting is to fill a permanent, full-time (75 hours bi-weekly) position. Yukon government’s vision is an engaged and diverse public service that embraces innovation to deliver positive outcomes for Yukoners. Who We Are The French Language Services Directorate (FLSD) is a central agency that supports departments and public bodies in fulfilling the requirements of the Yukon Languages Act. The Language Policy and Planning division drives a coordinated, government-wide approach to delivering French-language government services across the territory and leads legislative session support. Through strong partnerships with departments and public bodies, it provides strategic policy advice on service planning and delivery, supports the design of effective service models, and equips public servants with the tools and training they need to confidently serve Yukoners in French.

The opportunity The French Language Services Directorate is seeking a strategic leader to guide the development and delivery of government-wide policies and programs that advance bilingual service delivery across the Yukon. Reporting to the Director, and as a member of the senior management team, this role contributes to strategic decision-making, provides expert advice on high-profile and sensitive files, supports the Directorate’s central agency mandate, and oversees work related to legislative sessions. The position also provides leadership and guidance to a team of eight policy and French-language training professionals, including three supervisors reporting to the Manager, and works closely with departments to strengthen the delivery of French-language services across government. Essential Qualifications

  • Completion of post-secondary education, ideally in public administration, public policy, or a related field
  • Significant experience in policy development and analysis, including researching, drafting, providing options and advice, and implementation
  • Experience supervising and managing a team
  • Experience interpreting legislation, intergovernmental agreements, and policies

The Following Will Be Considered As Assets

  • Experience in language policy development and planning within the public sector or a central agency environment
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders (e.g., First Nations, NGOs, governments)
  • Knowledge of French

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.
