About the role

True North Sports + Entertainment is seeking a highly motivated and people-focused Event Security Coordinator to join our team. The Event Security Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of event security operations at events at Canada Life Centre, hockey for all centre and Burton Cummings Theatre. Provide support to Manager, Venue Security and indirect leadership with 24/7 security. Whether it's a sold-out Winnipeg Jets game, a major concert, or a community event, you'll play a key role in ensuring every event is delivered with professionalism, preparedness, and exceptional guest service. Success in this role requires a calm, solutions-focused leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can confidently make decisions when priorities shift quickly. What to be excited for in this role: Lead and coach the Event Security team including Event Coordinators, Supervisors and all other front facing Guest Experience casual staff members assigned to work events at Canada Life Centre. Support the employee lifecycle for Event Security including identifying recruitment needs, training needs, onboarding, performance management, scheduling and payroll. Ensuring compliance with the Manitoba Private Investigators and Security Guards Act. Basic budget management. Staying current with security industry best practices around the sports and entertainment industry and other security outfits in Winnipeg and Canada. Embody a positive and performance recognition driven work culture. Identify and implement proper reporting structure and goal oriented measurements. Enhance guest and employee satisfaction by rapidly adjusting our operation and standard. Development of process for event security operations including but not limited to; metal detectors, X-Ray machines, Frictionless security screening, post orders and standard operating procedures (SOPs). With direction from the Sr. Director, Security services, advance concert and event information with tour security personnel and execute events with Coordinators and Casual Supervisors for all CLC events. Creation of staffing placements and deployment of Police, Medical Services using maps, CAD drawings and other methods of communication. Coordination of VIP events, movements of talent, securing show specific assets using the “Incident Command” Structure (Centralized Communication). Attention to detail on crowd flow, crowd management, crowd surging. Attention to detail on Emergency Response Planning in large public assemblies. Assist the Manager, Venue Security & Systems with venue security operation as required. Build and maintain productive contacts and communications with local and provincial regulatory, community, and emergency service agencies with a focus on improved safety and security for TNSE venues. Offer feedback and solutions for appropriate actions to be taken. Serve as a Full-Time TNSE building representative and/or Event Lead for events as required.

What we need from you: 2–5 years of experience leading teams in a fast-paced operational environment. Experience in security, hospitality, event operations, guest services, sports and entertainment, or similar industries is considered an asset. Must be able to obtain a valid Manitoba Security License. Post-secondary education in Business, Hospitality, Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, or a related field is considered an asset. Thorough knowledge of CCTV, fire alarm systems, computerized access control systems, and wireless communication. Strong leadership skills with experience coaching, motivating, and developing front-line teams. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and effectively communicate with employees, guests, contractors, emergency services, and external partners. Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously. Proficient in technology and software systems, including Microsoft Office applications and operational management platforms. Experience with TrackTik or similar workforce management systems is considered an asset. Strategic thinking skills with the ability to align initiatives, structures, and various business components in support of TNSE's mission and vision. A proven ability to think on your feet, make sound decisions under pressure, and adapt quickly to changing circumstances. Ability to deliver exceptional customer service and guest-facing experience, while remaining calm, professional, and solutions-focused in high-pressure situations. This role is event-driven and requires regular attendance during evenings, weekends, and occasionally holidays based on the event schedule. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Must have a valid Manitoba driver's licence. Must be eligible to work in Canada. Why you should join us! We are True North!
