$24.00 Per Hour
Human Resources Assistant
This is a full-time, 8-week position with standard working hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Flexible work arrangements may be considered and discussed with the successful candidate, where appropriate.
This position is supported through the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) 2026 program. Applicants must meet the program eligibility criteria, including:
- Being between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
- Being a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person granted refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the job
- Being legally entitled to work in Canadain accordance withrelevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
- Having a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment
Work location: On-site at Distress Centre Calgary, 999 8 Street SW, Suite 500**.**

What to Expect
The Human Resources (HR) Assistant will gain hands-on experience supporting the People & Culture team in building an inclusive, accessible, and neurodiversity-friendly workplace. They will help with job postings, onboarding, and everyday HR tasks, while learning how workplaces can better support diverse needs. This role is a chance to learn, ask questions, and build skills in a supportive and welcoming environment.
What You’ll Do
This list highlights core responsibilities and is not exhaustive. Additional related duties may arise over time and will be discussed and supported by your supervisor.
HR & Administrative Support (50%)
- Help withbasic HR tasks, such as job postings, onboarding checklists, and organizing employee documents.
- KeepHR files and trackinglistsup to date, following guidance on confidentiality and accuracy.
- Supportday-to-day administrative tasksfor the People & Culture team, including scheduling and follow-up.
- UseHR systems and digital toolsto enter information and support onboarding and record-keeping.
- Assistwith reviewing and improving simple HR processes by noticing what works well and where support is needed.
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) Support (50%)
- Supportneurodiversity and accessibility-related initiatives throughresearch, coordination, and administrativeassistance.
- HelpmaintainDEIA resources, documentation, and basic tracking or reporting tools.
- Assistwith inclusive communications, onboarding materials, and learning resources.
- Support DEIA-related engagement activities, training sessions, or staff initiatives.
- Learn and apply DEIA principles when supporting People & Culture projects and HR processes.
What You Bring
Qualifications & Experience
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed post-secondary studies in human resources,administration, social sciences, or community-focused disciplines.
- Interestin DEIA, people-centered support,andworking with diverse people and perspectives, with a willingness to learn.
- Experience supporting projects or administrativetasks throughwork,education, or volunteering.
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to manage change, unexpected issues, or shifting priorities withappropriate support.
- Clear and respectful verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability totailorcommunicationbased on the audience or context.
- Ability to prepare and deliver information in ways that support different learning preferences.
- Experienceusing Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
