Your tasks

As a Mechanical Engineer – Customer Service, you will provide technical expertise for various projects and operating installations, as well as support for the management of periodic maintenance activities. You will also be responsible for managing certain service mandates and projects, performing load tests, and carrying out inspections of cableway and ropeway installations. You will work closely with our customers and regulatory authorities across Canada on various compliance-related assignments for existing installations.

This position is based at our Saint‑Jérôme facility and requires occasional travel to support our clients in Eastern Canada.

Your tasks

  • Handle technical customer service requests from our Canadian client base and coordinate the technical actions required to resolve reported issues.
  • Respond to calls from our 24/7/365 emergency line, on a rotating basis with other team members.
  • Provide technical supervision for maintenance services and contracts, as well as activities related to load testing (periodic load tests and preparation of related reports).
  • Perform inspections and audits of cableway installations.
  • Participate in internal and external training activities, as well as assist with the supervision and training of customers during the delivery of new cable transportation equipment.
  • Manage technical services and certain service projects in collaboration with, and with the support of, our engineering departments (Canada, United States, Austria, Switzerland).
  • Stay up to date on technological developments related to products and their impact on maintenance activities.
  • Work on compliance mandates for existing installations in collaboration with Canadian regulatory authorities (RBQ in Québec, TSSA in Ontario, and other provincial agencies).
  • Carry out duties in accordance with the company’s vision and code of ethics.
  • Apply and comply with safety rules at all times.
  • Apply and comply with the company’s policies and quality management system.
  • Perform any other related duties as required.

Your profile

Education and Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline (maintenance, civil, mechanical, project management, etc.)
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT / CPI)
  • Willingness to obtain a professional engineering license in Ontario and other Canadian provinces as required (fees covered by the company)

Professional Experience

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a similar position
  • Knowledge of the cable transportation industry

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge and hands‑on experience in service, maintenance, commissioning, and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Proficiency with standard computer tools and 2D/3D design software (Microsoft Office Suite, Siemens NX, AutoCAD, SAP2000, etc.)
  • ASP Health and Safety on Construction Sites certification

Languages

  • French: Advanced level (reading, writing, listening, and speaking).

French is the primary working language within the organization.

  • English: Advanced level (reading, writing, listening, and speaking).

English proficiency is required, as the position involves regular coordination of directives and technical support from the Doppelmayr/Garaventa Group, particularly for construction sites. The role also requires communication with various group entities or suppliers located outside Québec. These interactions may include technical discussions related to parts, interpretation of drawings, resolution of urgent field issues, and logistical follow‑ups.
