Description
Oxford International Junior Programmes offers a range of summertime ESL programmes at carefully chosen centres in the UK, Canada, and the US. Our programmes aim to create a study experience of educational value, of cultural interest, and, of course, full of fun and memories to take home.
Our Vancouver summer program is based at the The University of British Columbia*, where students receive a combination of 15 hours English language tuition per week and a comprehensive programme of activities and excursions. The activity programme will include daytime and evening activities as well as half-day and full-day excursions to attractions and places of cultural interest.
We are currently looking for staff for contracts of various length from end-of-June to early August 2026 (programme dates are June 21 – August 9, 2026). A limited number of residential positions are available. Full board accommodation included in residential position employment packages available.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The Onsite Activity Coordinator (OSAC) works closely alongside the Activity Manager to deliver an exciting and engaging on-site activity programme. The OSAC is responsible for planning the various activities or games that occur onsite, ensuring the necessary equipment or supplies are on-hand, briefing the Activity Leaders that will be present for the activity, and then leading the activity in-person to ensure its success.
A combination of people skills and organizational skills is essential for this role. In this role, you will support the Activity Manager by ensuring that our activity leaders have all the tools and instructions required to escort students throughout Vancouver’s top tourist sites and organize entertaining on-campus activities.
Responsibilities

Organise and implement the on-site programme, including programme-wide events when necessary.

Guide and support Activity Leaders.

Ensure onsite activities are inclusive, structured and promote the use of English.

Use innovative ways to promote the programme.

Maintain a visible presence.
-
Liaise with the students’ Group Leaders to improve and develop the programme.
-
Leverage the skills and interests of the ALs.
-
Maintain proper levels of student discipline, safety and welfare.
-
Be the first point of contact for students who have onsite questions.
-
Actively promote the programme to all clients.
-
Always respond to emergencies.
-
Lead staff on welfare, discipline and safety of students.
-
Always dress appropriately.
-
Maintain a professional working relationship with staff and clients.
-
Carry out any other reasonable tasks.
Person Specifications
Requirements
- CEFR C1+ level of English speaking and writing.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- A positive, “can-do” approach to work.
- High levels of professional conduct.
- Respect for equal opportunities and respect for race and diversity.
- Flexibility, adaptability and ability to cope with changing priorities.
- Strong communication skills to deliver instructions clearly and effectively.
It would be great if you:
- Have experience working in a residential setting.
- Have experience planning and executing onsite activities with teenagers.
- Are familiar with the UBC Point Gray campus, and other Vancouver attractions.
- Hold a valid First Aid qualification and/or a lifeguard certificate.
