Internship: Continuous Improvement (4-month) - Edmonton, AB, Canada
About the role
What You’ll Do Edmonton Power Center (EPC), Eaton Electrical is seeking an Intern - Continuous Improvement to join our team for a 4-month term. This position is based at our Edmonton, AB facility.
The hourly range for this role is $20-$25 per hour. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Primary Function Reporting to the CI Manager, this position will work across the manufacturing facility to assist with Lean initiatives related to cost savings, 5S+, material stocking levels, process flow, standard work, root-cause analysis etc. to optimize efficiency using ECIS (EATON Continuous Improvement System) tools.
Essential Functions
- Assist in project to improve the material flow and 5S+.
- Participate in Kaizens.
- Creating standard work to standardize processes.
- Write, review and revise operation sheets, prepare or direct preparation of time/motion studies.
- Designing/procuring jigs and equipment to aid production.
- Confer with engineering personnel on design changes.
Qualifications Basic Qualifications:
- Must have recently graduated or be currently enrolled in a college diploma or university degree program in Engineering, Business, or any computer-related course).
- Legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship now or in the future.
- This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must reside within 120 km of Edmonton, AB to be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Intermediate/advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Power BI, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Willing to work with shop floor employees for engagement and project implementation
- Prior internship or co-op experience.
Position Criteria
- Strong customer service focus with a commitment to confidentiality, a high level of professionalism and time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work safely on multiple projects.
- Good analytical/problem-solving, mathematical skills and troubleshooting ability.
- Demonstrated leadership experience within campus and/or the community.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
