The InterHospital Laboratory Partnership (IHLP), is one of Canada’s longest-standing and regional laboratory collaborations. Bringing together 16 hospital laboratories across Huron, Perth, Grey, Wellington, and Bruce counties, IHLP is dedicated to providing high-quality, standardized, and cost-effective laboratory services through shared expertise, harmonized practices, and strong regional leadership based at HPHA’s Stratford General Hospital.
ROLE
The QA Lead will champion quality management activities in compliance with Accreditation Canada Diagnostics (ACD) Laboratory requirements. The position will work closely with the Laboratory Director, the Regional Manager, other Regional Staff and IHLP staff to facilitate the formulation and implementation of policies and procedures across the region and within individual hospitals. The individual will also provide redundancy/support to the current IHLP Regional Team for general oversight and quality management.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)
- Graduate of an accredited training program in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT)
- Valid driver’s licence and/or access to a private motor vehicle for travels to all sites within the IHLP
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)
- At least five (5) years of current experience in leadership and/or or project management
- At least 5 years of technical experience in a clinical laboratory
- Experience in working with electronic document control software
- Experience in developing, maintaining and improving laboratory quality systems; evaluating risks related to the quality management system; supporting quality improvement initiatives, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to improve services to patients, staff and regional hospital partners; gathering and analyzing data in support of departmental projects, corporate and regional initiatives; and facilitating management review and quality reporting.
- Ability to conduct meetings, prepare correspondence and reports
- Ability to work effectively with hospital/laboratory information systems
- Ability to work with Microsoft Office Suite programs such as Excel and Word
- Ability to interpret and apply regulated lab standards and best practices
- Ability to absorb new ideas and concepts quickly
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and presentational skills
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Ability to problem solve and think strategically
- Ability to utilize available resources to achieve a goal
DESIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE(S) & EDUCATION
