The Opportunity
Tidewater has an immediate opening for a Laboratory Technician. This is a full-time position reporting into our Brazeau River Complex in Drayton Valley, AB. A Laboratory Technician in the natural gas industry is responsible for conducting tests and analyses to ensure the quality, safety, and efficiency of natural gas production and processing.
Key Responsibilities
Performing chemical and physical tests on natural gas samples to assess composition and purity
Operating laboratory equipment such as chromatography and spectroscopy instruments
Monitoring environmental factors like air and water quality to ensure compliance with regulations
Recording and interpreting test results to support production and safety standards
Assisting in research and development for improved processing techniques
Ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety protocols
Maintaining, cleaning or sterilizing laboratory instruments or equipment
Ideal Candidate
Chemical Engineering, or a related field is preferred
4th year Power Engineering
Journeyman Instrumentation Technician with Field Measurement experience
5-10 years proven experience in Oil and Gas chemical engineering
Experience in building and maintaining customer relationships
Results-driven mindset with a focus on achieving measurable outcomes
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions
Ability to work independently and remotely, with a willingness to travel as needed
Knowledge of the Oil and Gas industry and related regulations is a plus
Ability to work indoors and outdoors
