The CanCap Group (“CanCap”) is a privately-owned Canadian national financial services company with multiple verticals across automotive, consumer, and merchant lending portfolios. We manage the entire lifecycle of the finance receivable from credit adjudication through contract administration, customer service, default management and post charge-off recoveries.

What your day and week could look like

The Human Resources Business Partner will play a key role in supporting employees and leaders across the organization. This role will be responsible for handling day-to-day HR operations, with a focus on employee relations, performance management, policy interpretation, and ensuring compliance with applicable employment laws and company practices. The successful candidate will be a proactive problem solver, an excellent communicator, and a trusted partner to both employees and managers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee relations matters, ensuring fair, consistent, and timely resolution.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to managers and employees on performance management, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation.
  • Support HR programs including recruitment, onboarding, training, benefits, and engagement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation and company policies.
  • Conduct investigations and prepare documentation as needed for employee relations cases.
  • Partner with HR leadership to develop and implement HR initiatives that enhance the employee experience.
  • Assist with HR reporting, metrics, and continuous process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (CHRP designation or working toward designation considered an asset).
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive HR experience, with direct experience handling employee relations matters.
  • Strong knowledge of employment standards and HR best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

This role is a hybrid work structure, with 50% of your time spent in office and 50% working from home. This could change based on the needs of the business.
