About the role
D-Wave is seeking a skilled Senior Electronics Design Engineer to join our Electrical Engineering team to develop the next generation of quantum control electronics. In this role you will be responsible for evaluating, developing and troubleshooting highly synchronized, multi-channel, low noise electronics. Your work will be instrumental in enabling precision control and readout of superconducting quantum processors.
You will collaborate with Quantum Processor Scientists, Superconducting Designers, and cross-functional teams including Mechanical, Electrical and Software Engineers to define requirements. Your responsibilities will span system architecture design to circuit implementation including PLL, DAC, ADC and PDN.

What you'll do
- Design and implement the next generation quantum processor control and readout system electronics
- Serve as a technical expert for high-speed digital design, power management and signal integrity analysis
- Debug and optimize multi-channel, low-noise, highly synchronized electronics.
- Conduct failure analysis and apply insights to drive continuous design and development improvements
- Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary teams in Engineering, Software and Processor Development
- Perform signal and power integrity analysis and guide PCB layout best practices
- Create and maintain high-quality design documentation and present progress to internal development teams
- Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering technical growth and collaboration
About You
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Experimental Physics, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in high-speed electronics design
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia
- Strong knowledge of high-speed serial interfaces such as DDR, PCIe and Ethernet
- Proven experience designing high-speed PCBs and performing signal integrity analysis
- Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Python) and programming languages (e.g., C/C++) for automation and system control
- Hands-on troubleshooting skills, including circuit debugging with vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers and related tools
- Familiarity with FPGA design and development tools
- Self-motivated, proactive, flexible and passionate about learning
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience using simulation and modeling tools (e.g., SPICE, HFSS, ADS) and creating testbenches
- Excellent critical thinking, analysis and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational and decision-making skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-driven team environment
Additional Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Experimental Physics
- Experience in RF circuit design including filtering, switching, multiplexing, and transmission lines
- Experience in microwave circuit design including filtering, switching, multiplexing, and transmission lines
- Experience designing electronics for use with superconducting circuits
- Familiarity with EMI/EMC requirements and certification
- Familiarity with Xilinx’s tools and with OrCad schematic and PCB layout tools
- Experience with microwave frequency design
- Experience with cryogenic engineering and systems
- Strong software engineering skills related to experimental design, data acquisition, and analysis
