This position has a term length of 1 year plus 1 day.
Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person work at North Campus Edmonton.
Reporting to the CHS Director of Research, the Research Coordinator supports the Director and Associate Dean Research. The coordinator works directly with the Director of Research to support operational systems and structures with the Office of Research that further the research services vision and support disciplinary, interdisciplinary, and cross-sector research activities including large-scale research activities, and research administration.
The College of Health Sciences unites the University of Alberta’s health-focused faculties and schools to enable a new level of interdisciplinary research and teaching that advances human health and wellness across individual, community, and global contexts. By fostering collaboration across disciplines, the college supports innovative, large-scale research initiatives and integrated educational programs that span the full continuum of care and health promotion.
The college includes the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation, the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine, the Faculty of Nursing, the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, the School of Public Health, and the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry. Together, these units drive excellence in health sciences education, research, and clinical innovation, supporting the university’s broader mission to lead in discovery, learning, and the advancement of societal well-being for the decade ahead and beyond.

Provide comprehensive financial administrative support to the Clinical Trials Office (CTO), ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

Initiate and process all purchase requisitions, purchase orders (POs), and invoices through SupplyNet, ensuring accuracy and compliance with university policies.

Prepare, process, and track invoices and billings; follow up on accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) to ensure timely payments and collections.

Initiate vendor payments and provide advice and guidance to faculty and staff on setting up payments and invoices.

Maintain and reconcile operating, research, and endowment accounts on a regular basis, ensuring general ledgers are accurate and up-to-date.

Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded in accordance with university standards.

Review individual transactions and supporting documentation for accuracy, policy compliance, and appropriate authorizations; correct errors and troubleshoot transactional issues, escalating broader or more complex issues to the Staff Service Centre or assigned Financial Partner.

University Degree supplemented by 3-5 years of research administration and coordination experience

Proven experience with the tri-council grant application processes, particularly CIHR, is a strong asset.

Training in QuickBooks accounting software and project management is an asset.

Familiarity with clinical trial processes, research networks, and Learning Management Systems (LMS) is highly desirable.

Excellent computer skills including proficiency in use of database, spreadsheet and word processing software.

Strong skills with U of A applications are preferred (Google, PeopleSoft, Bear Tracks, ARISE, Alfresco, APS appointment process, etc.).
