Position Summary
The Calgary Stampede is seeking a dynamic IT professional with a passion for bridging gaps between technology solutions and the business to join our Information Technology team in the role of Information Services Applications Manager. In this role, you will lead our application support team by combining your expertise in commercial off-the-shelf applications with integration and custom development to address various business needs, promote efficiency, and ensure consistency throughout the application lifecycle.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping our organization's future by leveraging technology to streamline operations, enhance efficiency, and achieve strategic goals. We’re looking for a forward-thinking IT Applications Manager to lead our enterprise applications portfolio and support Calgary Stampede Application journey. This is your chance to shape the technology roadmap, mentor a talented team, and deliver high-impact solutions across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
Leadership & Strategy
- Lead and mentor a team of 6 IT professionals, including business analysts, system analysts/programmers, Database analysts and Application Specialists
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation within the team.
- Define and execute an enterprise applications roadmap aligned with organizational priorities and growth strategies.
- Establish KPIs and implement best practices for development, support, and delivery.
Application Management
- Oversee the support, development, and integration of mission-critical enterprise systems.
- Ensure SLA adherence for incident response and resolution at all priority levels.
- Conduct technical design and code reviews to maintain system integrity and scalability.
Process Optimization & Innovation
- Drive standardization of SDLC processes, release management, and support workflows.
- Evaluate and enhance toolsets for backlog management, release planning, and support.
- Good to have: AI experience.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Collaborate with business leaders to understand evolving needs and align IT initiatives with strategic goals.
- Facilitate change management efforts to ensure smooth adoption of new systems and processes.
- Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and third-party integrations to support IT strategy.
- Support key projects such as implementation and preparation for a potential upgrades.
Technical Environment (Existing)
- CRM: Salesforce (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Communities, custom apps).
- Languages: Python, HTML, CSS (primary development platform); open to modern development stacks for new initiatives.
- Databases: Microsoft SQL Server (primary), PostgreSQL (legacy).
- Reporting Tools: SSRS, Power Bi.
- Cloud Infrastructure: AWS, Azure with ongoing migration on-prem servers.
- Upcoming Projects: Data warehousing and business intelligence initiatives are in planning stages.
- Integration and authentication platform Okta and Single Sign-On (SSO) systems.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be proactive, optimistic and have worked in a dynamic environment where they have experience delivering on multiple priorities and will hold the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years in IT application delivery, including 3+ years in leadership role.
- Proven success managing enterprise-scale applications and technical teams.
- Experience with SDLC methodologies (Agile, Waterfall) and setting up performance metrics.
- Hands-on programming experience in modern development stacks for technical oversight.
- Exposure to data warehousing and business intelligence concepts is an asset.
- Strategic thinking with a results-oriented, problem-solving approach.
