About the role
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Peer Mentorto be an integral part of the HART Hub Dufferin, ensuring the delivery of comprehensive, integrated care services to vulnerable individuals. The Peer Mentor will be responsible for offering lived experience support as part of the wrap around multidisciplinary team.
We are hiring for one (1) full-time, permanent role working at the HART Hub Dufferin in Orangeville

What you'll do
- Provide Clients with peer support by facilitating individual sessions in accordance with established protocols and appropriate standards.
- Work with Counsellors/Case Managers and other clinicians to respond to crisis situations and to connect with services.
- Share relevant lived experience in an appropriate and professional manner.
- Support clients in developing empowerment skills and combating stigma through self-advocacy.
- Assist to identify and combat negative self-talk and overcome fears by sharing own techniques and strategies.
Requirements
- Post-secondary training or education in a relevant discipline. – requirements higher than PAARC requirements
- Personal lived experience with mental health and/or addiction and/or homelessness, and a willingness to share their experience – differs from PAARC requirements as this opens up the role to those with mental health lived experience only
- Minimum 1 year experience in the mental health and addictions sector with a focus on recovery-oriented practice – differs from PAARC requirements (no actual experience required)
Working Conditions
- Onsite at the HART Hub Dufferin location (at the W&M Edelbrock Centre - 30 Centre St, Orangeville). Hours of operation are 9:00 am – 9:00 pm, Monday to Sunday (no bed services at this location)
- The Hub is open 365 days a year, including statutory holidays. Shift work is required. 12 hour rotational shift day/afternoons including weekends 10:00am – 10:00pm. Will work 35.0 hours per week
