What you’ll be doing
The Senior Director, reporting to the Vice President, Funding & Liquidity Management, will play a critical role in supporting the organization’s financial stability by providing comprehensive insights into liquidity metrics, optimizing funding plans, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This position is primarily responsible for maintaining and enhancing the liquidity management framework, leading internal and regulatory liquidity reporting, and promoting robust governance and controls. As a high-impact representative and leader within the Treasury function, the Senior Director will champion Treasury perspectives across cross-functional initiatives, advocate for best practices, and serve as a trusted advisor to senior management and key stakeholders. The role will also support the funds transfer pricing process for Global Markets as part of broader collaboration with business partners. The Senior Director will foster a high-performing team culture, drive process improvements, and build influential relationships throughout the organization. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership, communication, and analytical skills, translating complex financial and regulatory matters into actionable recommendations that advance CIBC’s strategic objectives and reinforce its reputation for excellence in liquidity management.

How you’ll succeed
- Leadership- Lead, develop, and motivate a high performing team by setting clear objectives, providing ongoing coaching and feedback, and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Identify and support professional development opportunities for team members to enhance skills, knowledge, and overall team effectiveness. Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the team, ensuring a respectful and supportive work environment that enables all employees to contribute to their fullest potential. Serve as a strong representative of the Treasury group in cross-functional initiatives, committees, and meetings, advocating for Treasury perspectives and priorities. Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders across the organization, acting as a trusted advisor and ambassador for Treasury-related matters. Communicate Treasury strategies, objectives, and insights clearly and persuasively to senior management and other business partners, ensuring alignment and understanding.
- Forecasting and Funding Planning- Lead the forecasting of liquidity metrics, including LCR, NSFR, NCCF, internal stress metrics, and exposures to relevant limits and constraints, ensuring accuracy and alignment with business objectives. Manage wholesale funding planning activities to support the Bank’s balance sheet requirements, optimizing funding sources within regulatory and market constraints.
- Global Markets FTP- Oversee the funds transfer pricing process for the Global Markets business unit, ensuring models are transparent, effective, and aligned with strategic objectives. Build and maintain strong relationships with Global Markets stakeholders, including business, finance, and risk teams, to facilitate effective information sharing, alignment of FTP methodologies, and support of business objectives. Act as a trusted advisor to Global Markets leadership and related stakeholders on all matters pertaining to funds transfer pricing, ensuring their needs are understood and addressed. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to continuously enhance the FTP framework, drive process improvements, and ensure best practices are applied throughout the Global Markets business unit.
- Liquidity Management Framework- Provide comprehensive reporting, enhancement, and advisory services for all matters related to regulatory and internal liquidity metrics, including LCR, NSFR, and NCCF, delivering insights and updates to various stakeholders, including senior management, risk, OSFI, business, and business finance teams. Ensure strong governance is maintained over liquidity management processes, policies, and controls, supporting compliance with internal and external requirements. Regularly review and update liquidity management frameworks to reflect changes in regulatory expectations, market conditions, and business strategy. Monitor and assess the effectiveness of liquidity management controls, recommending enhancements as needed to mitigate risks and strengthen oversight.
- Stress Testing- Manage the liquidity group’s contribution to Enterprise Wide Stress Testing (EWST) and Macro Stress Testing (MST) exercises, ensuring comprehensive coverage and robust analysis of liquidity and funding aspects.
Who you are
- You have at least 10 years of experience in liquidity risk management, treasury, financial markets, financial regulations, capital management, or a related area within a large financial institution.
- Leadership & Team Development: Demonstrated experience leading, developing, and motivating high performing teams; ability to foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Liquidity Metrics & Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of liquidity metrics, including LCR, NSFR, NCCF, and related regulatory frameworks (e.g., Basel III, OSFI guidelines); experience with regulatory reporting and compliance.
- Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with senior management, cross-functional teams, and external stakeholders; strong influencing and advisory skills.
- Forecasting & Financial Planning: Advanced skills in liquidity and funding forecasting, financial modeling, and scenario analysis; ability to interpret exposures to limits and constraints.
- Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP): Expertise in funds transfer pricing methodologies, particularly for Global Markets; ability to develop, enhance, and communicate FTP frameworks and models.
- Governance & Controls: Strong knowledge of governance practices, risk management, and internal controls related to liquidity management; experience designing and maintaining policies and procedures.
- Stress Testing: Experience managing and contributing to liquidity stress testing programs, including EWST and MST;
- Reporting & Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to synthesize complex financial data and regulatory requirements into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences.
- Data Analysis & Tools: Proficiency in data analytics and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, dashboarding platforms); ability to leverage data to drive decision-making and process improvements.
- Problem Solving & Strategic Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to anticipate challenges, identify risks, and develop innovative solutions aligned with organizational strategy.
- Professional Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field (Master’s degree, CA or CFA designation is a plus).
