About the role

Purpose:
The CCTV Team Leader is responsible for maintaining audits of York University's 1300+ CCTV cameras by submitting critical reports of non-functioning cameras to the Security Technology team. They also act as an effective liaison between unionized, security, parking, and managerial staff. In addition to the duties completed by CCTV Operators, the CCTV Team Leader is available to ensure staff camera checks are completed, coach and mentor staff, and some shift scheduling.

Education:
High school education. Must be enrolled and registered as a full-time student in a degree program at York University.

Experience:
A minimum of 1 year of customer service experience and/or community-related volunteer service experience is preferred.

Skills:
Demonstrated skill / ability in the following areas: customer service, leadership, and problem solving. Excellent written & oral communications skills. Ability to effectively liaise between, and amongst, unionized, security, and managerial staff. Ability to delegate duties, work both alone & with others, and exercise sound judgment. Demonstrated professionalism, courtesy, tact, and diplomacy. Strong work ethic, sense of responsibility, and an ability to motivate staff. Availability for day hours & daytime training (to be specified). Strong knowledge of cameras, CCTV software, and additional programs. Proficiency with software applications including Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel is an asset.

Notes:

  • Must be able to sit and watch LCD screens for extended periods of time (typically between 4 and 8 hours).
  • All applicants must be, and remain as, full-time students actively working towards a degree at York University to be eligible for these positions, as per the CUPE 1356-2 Collective Agreement.
  • Preference is given to applicants currently in the CCTV Operator classification who have completed their probationary period
