Some of what you will do:

Supervises and schedules driver activities to ensure that all orders are delivered the next day; proof-of-deliveries and customer signatures are obtained; returns are picked up and proper documentation completed.

Specifically, you will:

Taking on a leadership role by providing direction to drivers to meet goals, giving feedback to the team on various matters and being responsible for training, hiring, coaching, and terminating drivers.

Assess and resolve matters such as route issues, undelivered packages, and driver accidents.

Perform administrative tasks such as developing work schedules based on drivers and deliveries/pickups, creating reports, and providing input for the annual budget process.

Coordinate deliveries and implement fixes for undelivered packages.

Track vehicle tags and road permits for company vehicles.

Occasionally perform delivery and loading/unloading duties.

Understand all safety procedures; ensure safe work practices are followed and maintain a safe work environment.

Qualifications:

Some of what you need:

1 to 2 years of supervisory/leadership experience is required.

Must be able to provide guidance, work direction and motivate others to obtain improved performance.

Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract that has no “major moving violations” in accordance with applicable provincial law.

Experience with driving lightweight trucks preferred.

Able to lift up to 70 pounds unassisted; experience using hand truck/dolly preferred.

Knowledge of metro area, delivery routes, products, and warehouse operations.

Proficient in verbal and written communication, problem solving and must have good interpersonal skills.

Possess personal computer knowledge of various software programs.

Additional Information:

This job supervises all delivery personnel. Supervises a minimum of five employees. May be required to work a flexible schedule and be available based on the needs of the business.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push/pull, or balance weight for extended periods of time.

The employee must frequently lift, move, and/or carry up to a maximum of 70 pounds unassisted or may use dolly type equipment to deliver products to customers.

Must be able to enter and/or scan product and customer information into a hand-held scanner.

Must be able to drive throughout assigned route in all kinds of weather and road conditions.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
