Business Development Executive — Capital Markets Media and Memberships
About the role
Sales and Business Development Consultant
Part-Time | Approximately 20 Hours per Week
InvestorNews Inc. is seeking an experienced, relationship-driven sales and business development professional to expand its portfolio of corporate clients and Critical Minerals Institute (CMI) members. This individual will sell InvestorNews media and communications programs, as well as CMI corporate memberships.
The successful candidate will be comfortable speaking with public-company executives, directors, investor-relations professionals and capital-markets advisers. They will understand how to identify a company’s communications objectives, recommend an appropriate program, articulate its value clearly and guide the relationship from the initial introduction through closing, onboarding and renewal.
Key responsibilities
Develop and maintain a qualified pipeline of prospective InvestorNews clients and CMI corporate members. Conduct consistent outreach by telephone, email, LinkedIn, video meetings, conferences and industry events. Arrange introductory meetings with corporate executives and other decision-makers. Assess each prospect’s objectives and recommend the most appropriate InvestorNews program, CMI membership level or combination of services. Present proposals, respond to questions, manage follow-up and close new business. Maintain accurate records of prospects, meetings, proposals, follow-ups and sales activity. Provide reliable weekly pipeline and activity reports. Represent InvestorNews and CMI at conferences, InvestorTalk events, CMI Masterclasses and the annual CMI Summit. Communicate program benefits accurately and responsibly, without making promises concerning market performance, investor response or financing outcomes.
Compensation and commitment
This is a part-time consulting engagement requiring approximately 20-25 hours per week. Compensation consists of a base retainer of C$5,000 per month, plus a 15% sales commission on eligible business generated by the consultant.
Complete commission terms, including eligible revenue, payment timing and the treatment of renewals, will be set out in the consulting agreement.
The ideal candidate
Has demonstrated success in business development, corporate sales, sponsorship sales or membership development. Brings established relationships within the public markets, financial media, mining, critical minerals, technology or emerging-growth sectors. Is confident communicating with CEOs, directors and other senior decision-makers. Understands the communications and visibility requirements of publicly traded companies. Can translate a client’s objectives into a practical, well-defined media or membership program. Has strong written, telephone, presentation, negotiation and closing skills. Is persistent and commercially motivated while remaining professional, credible and respectful. Is comfortable using email, video conferencing, LinkedIn, shared documents and CRM technology. Works independently while communicating consistently and collaborating effectively with the broader team. Protects the reputations of InvestorNews and CMI by avoiding exaggerated claims, high-pressure tactics and promises that cannot be supported.
Experience in capital-markets media, public-company communications, investor relations, mining or critical minerals would be considered a significant advantage.
This is a media, membership and business development role. It does not involve selling securities or providing investment advice.
