About the role
A property accounting opportunity for a true problem solver who enjoys supporting a growing industrial and commercial portfolio, with high-impact exposure to stakeholder collaboration, and Yardi system optimization
Your New Employer
Our client is a privately-owned, high-growth real estate company headquartered in the GTA with a robust portfolio of industrial and commercial assets. With over 4 million square feet under management, the firm is entering a new phase of strategic growth, driven by new developments, acquisitions, and ongoing optimization of operational processes. The company takes pride in its collaborative team culture, where individuals are empowered to take ownership of their portfolios, work cross-functionally with stakeholders, and contribute to building scalable financial infrastructure. This is a team that values transparency, adaptability, and high standards, and is looking for professionals who want to grow alongside it
Your New Role
As a Property Accountant, you will join a close-knit and experienced finance team reporting to the Controller. You will be responsible for the full-cycle accounting of a diverse portfolio of industrial and commercial real estate properties, including monthly financial reporting, year-end CAM and tax reconciliations, forecasting, budgeting, and tenant recoveries. This role was created due to ongoing growth and to support a major financial clean-up and reconciliation initiative expected to span the next 6 months. You'll be working closely with Property Managers, Leasing, and the Facilities teams, often collaborating daily to ensure accuracy, clarity, and timeliness of financial data. Your work will have both tactical and strategic impact as the company builds out its long-term platform.
What Sets You Apart
You bring a strong foundation in property accounting, ideally with 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience within a commercial or industrial real estate environment. You're either pursuing or already hold a CPA designation, and you’re confident managing full-cycle responsibilities, including the preparation of financial statements, recoverable, reconciliations, and tenant recoveries.
You’re proficient in Yardi Voyager, especially the modules related to budgeting, forecasting, and facilities. Excel is second nature to you; you’re comfortable using pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and working with large data sets. Most importantly, you're a collaborative, self-directed team player who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment. You enjoy working across departments, welcome change, and take pride in delivering accurate, timely financial insights that support decision-making.
What You Can Expect
This is an opportunity to join a company that is not only growing but actively investing in its people and platforms. You can expect to work in a collaborative, in-office culture where finance and operations are truly integrated. You'll be given the space to take ownership of your work, while being supported by a Controller and experienced peers who value accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement. The company offers a competitive compensation package, including performance incentives, benefits, and RRSP matching. You'll enjoy generous time off, access to professional development, and the flexibility to shape your role as the company scales. Whether you’re looking to grow into a leadership role or deepen your technical expertise, this is a workplace where your contribution will be visible and valued.
