Dispatch/Customer Service

Seasonal position/Full time hours

(Shifts: 9:00AM - 5:00PM and 2:00PM - 10:00PM - Monday - Sunday shifts; weekends mandatory)

Job Description: Reporting to the Distribution Manager, this position is responsible for answering or responding to all inbound calls from customers and dispatching drivers to ensure all deliveries are made in a quick and efficient manner. In addition, the Dispatcher coordinates and maintains the dock area and maintenance of all vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for correspondence with customers and dispatch drivers.
  • Communicates with drivers on day-to-day assignments.
  • Reconciles all cash and driver invoices.
  • Builds base routes for drivers.
  • Maintains handheld invoicing system.
  • Coordinates the dock area involving the loading of trucks, shipping, and receiving.
  • Evaluates the availability of trucks for ice delivery as well as for repairs and maintenance.
  • Reviews driver logs and vehicle inspection reports and monitors adherence and compliance based on metric reporting.
  • Supports DOT compliance and other safety initiatives.
  • Receives merchandiser repair calls and dispatches service technicians.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.

Salary - $22/hour

Candidate Qualifications:

  • 1 to 2 years’ experience working in a distribution environment -Previous dispatch experience highly desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic math and cash handling skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
  • Comfortable with a fast-paced environment and ability to shift focus to meet client needs.
  • Must be comfortable working with hand held units.
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Office products, including Excel and Outlook.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays.
