About the role

Intermediate Mechanical Engineer (P.Eng.) Location: Toronto or Hamilton, ON Salary: $90,000 - $120,000 + Benefits Work Arrangement: Hybrid (typically 1 day work from home per week)

This organization is a well-established consulting engineering firm with a long-standing reputation for delivering mechanical and electrical engineering solutions for existing buildings throughout Southern Ontario. With nearly three decades of industry experience, they support a diverse range of public and private sector clients, helping modernize, optimize, and enhance building performance through innovative retrofit, rehabilitation, and infrastructure improvement projects. Their work spans educational, healthcare, municipal, commercial, and government-owned facilities.

Your New Role

As an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer, you will take ownership of a diverse portfolio of building system improvement and retrofit projects, leading assignments from initial assessment and design through to construction administration and project close-out. Working closely with clients, contractors, building operators, and multidisciplinary project teams, you will play a key role in delivering innovative solutions for existing buildings.

Projects may include: HVAC system upgrades and modernization Existing building restoration projects Boiler and heating plant replacements Water distribution and pumping systems Lighting and energy-efficiency improvements Building retrofit and rehabilitation projects Municipal, institutional, healthcare, and government facilities Energy modelling and greenhouse gas reduction initiatives Mechanical and electrical building system assessments and design work

What You'll Need to Succeed

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is required or candidates nearing completion will also be considered. Approximately 5+ years of engineering and project management experience. Strong experience in one or more of the following areas: HVAC systems Existing building restoration Boiler and heating systems Water and pumping systems Building retrofits and rehabilitation Municipal, institutional, or government projects Experience managing projects through planning, design, tendering, contract administration, and close-out. Understanding of local building codes, standards, and regulations. Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications. Strong communication, client-facing, and stakeholder management skills. Valid driver's licence and access to a personal vehicle for project-related travel.
