As a Lead Hand – Dock Service, you’ll play a key role in turning waterfront designs into reality while supporting the Crew Leader in guiding a small team. You’ll lead by example — driving productivity, safety, quality, and professionalism on every job site.
This is hands-on, outdoor work — done alongside a high-performing team that values craftsmanship, accountability, and growth.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Project Execution
- Assist the Crew Leader with supervision, delegation, and coordination of a 2–3 person crew — at times working independently
- Support management of safety, quality, and productivity on job sites and in the shop/yard
- Operate tools and equipment such as chainsaw winches, drills, and floating devices
- Read and interpret installation manuals, layout drawings, and specifications
- Maintain standards of cleanliness and organization in trucks, trailers, equipment, and job sites
- Perform daily preventative maintenance: inspections, lubrication, cleaning
Leadership & Accountability
- Lead by example with safe, responsible, and professional conduct
- Communicate clearly with customers and crew members
- Participate actively in team meetings and company initiatives
- Complete and submit daily logs, timekeeping, site meetings, and planning reports
- Prepare and submit daily planning to coordinate project goals, identify needs, and remove obstacles
- Demonstrate shoreline stewardship using environmental best practices
Quality Workmanship

Install and remove aluminum pipe, floating, and tower dock systems

Install boat lifts and marine rail systems

Perform dock service adjustments (height, alignment, repairs)

Load, unload, and transport materials using dollies and floating devices
-
Work efficiently to meet estimated job hours while maintaining quality

The Seasonality
Dock Service peaks in spring and early fall. During mid-summer and late fall, there may be opportunities to contribute to other departments depending on workload and company needs.
