About the role

The Utilities Division of the Operations Department at the Cowichan Valley Regional District is seeking a regular full time Engineering Technologist I. Reporting to the Senior Manager - Utilities Division, the Engineering Technologist I is responsible for performing a wide variety of technical tasks of a municipal engineering nature related to sewer, water, and drainage; including processing applications, taking inquiries from customers, operational monitoring, data collection and input, and assisting with developing hydraulic computer models for water and wastewater systems. The Engineering Technologist I is also responsible for assisting in maintaining and updating the asset inventories.

  • Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a diploma in civil engineering and eligible for membership in the ASTT as a technologist/technician, or a combination of education and appropriate training and experience
  • Preferably, minimum of one (1) year related job or cooperative work experience in a similar field
  • WHMIS Certificate - provided by employer
  • Occupational First Aid Level I with CPR C
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License

The hours of work are 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 830 a.m. to 430 p.m. This position may be required to attend some evening and weekend meetings. This position is eligible for the Flex Time Program.

Wage rate in 3 steps as per the Collective Agreement between the CVRD and CUPE Local 358, $40.01 - $41.15 - $42.39 per hour (2025 rates). Benefits are included as per the CUPE Collective Agreement
