Assistant Director, Ancillary Academic Programs
Location: On-campus, In-person, hybrid during off-season
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00

HOW YOU WILL THRIVE:
You will lead Appleby’s Ancillary academic programming portfolio including summer Enrichment, Credit, and ESL offerings ensuring they reflect our commitment to educational excellence. You will develop engaging academic experiences that attract diverse learners while supporting high-quality program delivery and a positive, inclusive learning environment for both students and instructors.
HOW YOU WILL SUCCEED:
- Research and recommend strategy for all academically oriented ancillary programs, both local and international.
- Analyze competitors for Academic and ESL programs in Canada and abroad to inform offerings and pricing models.
- Ensure Appleby remains a market leader by developing and delivering innovative academic programs grounded in informed market research.
- Develop curriculum for ESL, Credit, and Enrichment programs, including experiential learning opportunities that attract both international and external applicants.
- Create academic schedules for ESL, Academy, and Enrichment offerings.
- Ensure all courses meet Ministry guidelines and align with Appleby curriculum standards.
- Collaborate with Seasonal HR to create job descriptions and recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate Academic ESL, Credit, and Enrichment Instructors, while supporting training initiatives for boarding staff.
- Partner with the Assistant Director, Ancillary Boarding Programs to develop and document safety procedures, risk and crisis management protocols, and staff training resources.
- Oversee safety practices and respond to safety-related issues involving summer students and staff.
- Manage day-to-day program operations, providing instructional supervision and filling in for instructors when needed.
- Support students and families by serving as a key resource and addressing inquiries before and during program sessions.
- Participate in school events such as Open Houses, new parent nights, Grade Band, and guidance nights.
- Provide rotating 24/7 on-call support to Program Directors and Boarding Life through the summer.
- Coordinate with the Guidance department to promote offerings and ensure summer programs align with school and student needs.
- Work with Ancillary Activities and Marketing teams to update academic program information for the website, registration systems, and promotional materials.
- Assist in managing budgets and optimizing revenue for summer academic programs.
- Support annual updates to the CampBrain registration system in collaboration with the Camps team to enhance user experience.
- As appropriate, contribute actively to Appleby’s educational and program initiatives during the academic year.
WHAT YOU BRING**:**
- Solid knowledge of Ministry curriculum expectations, including ESL requirements.
- TOEFL certification and experience teaching ESL, preferably internationally.
- Proven ability to develop curriculum for diverse academic programs.
- Experience working with and supporting students and teachers.
- Excellent administrative, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Strong collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively across teams.
- A second language is considered an asset.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and clear driver’s abstract.
- Ability to engage confidently with parents, students, and external partners.
