Position Summary
The Policy & Accreditation Specialist is responsible for leading organization-wide policy management and accreditation initiatives across Tri-County Mennonite Homes. This role ensures that corporate policies align with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and operational needs. This position is not a policy reviewer role. Instead, it serves as the central driver of policy development, revision, and accreditation readiness—working collaboratively with subject matter experts and leaders across the organization to bring policies to life and ensure successful implementation. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, solutions-oriented professional who is comfortable leading initiatives, driving accountability, and facilitating difficult conversations when required.
Key Responsibilities
Policy Leadership & Governance

Lead the organization-wide management of policies and procedures.

Edit, rewrite, and modernize policies to ensure clarity, compliance, and operational relevance.

Collaborate with subject matter experts across departments to develop and refine policies.

Align organizational policies with accreditation and regulatory standards.

Ensure policies are actionable and effectively communicated to leadership for implementation.

Oversee policy approval workflows and work closely with designated reviewers.

Conduct comprehensive cleanup and restructuring within Surge Learning to eliminate outdated or redundant policies.
Accreditation
-
Spearhead accreditation readiness and compliance initiatives for TCMH.

Interpret accreditation standards and translate them into practical policy and operational requirements.

Identify gaps and work with leadership to implement corrective actions.

Coordinate documentation and evidence gathering to support accreditation processes.
Collaboration & Leadership

Work cross-functionally across all levels of the organization.

Facilitate discussions to drive accountability and ensure timely completion of policy updates.

Provide guidance and support to leaders in understanding and enacting policy changes.
-
Longer-term oversight responsibility for organizational policies.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
-
Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences (required).
-
Accreditation-related certification (preferred).
Experience:
-
Experience in Long-Term Care (LTC), Elder Care, or Healthcare (required).
-
Experience in developmental services (asset).
-
Demonstrated experience in policy writing, editing, and governance.
-
Experience supporting or leading accreditation processes.
Skills & Competencies:

Strong writing and editing skills with exceptional attention to detail.
-
Ability to interpret standards and translate them into operational policies.
-
Self-motivated, proactive, and highly organized.
-
Strong time management skills with the ability to work independently.

Comfortable leading meetings and navigating complex or challenging conversations.
-
Tech-savvy and able to quickly learn new systems and training platforms (e.g., Surge Learning).
Working Conditions

Full-time, permanent position.

Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Hybrid schedule: 1–2 days per week in office.
-
Travel between locations required.
