Job Description:

POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:
The Administrative Support Worker provides support to Saskatoon Temple Community Services on a temporary basis. This includes but is not limited to answering phones, data input and interacting with program participants, volunteers, donors and clients as is required.

Accountabilities:

  • Provide administrative support for the daily activities of Community Services during the Christmas Season.
  • Provide support to clients and donors by directing inquires appropriately.
  • Receive, process, and record all incoming donations.
  • Record statistical data in a clear, organized, and accurate manner.
  • Greet program participants, volunteers, donors and clients upon arrival.
  • Sign in and sign out program participants.
  • Answer phone and walk in inquiries as required.
  • Direct inquiries as is appropriate.
  • Complete data entry of client files.
  • Perform other position related duties as required.

CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:
Internal relationships:

  • Community Services Manager, Corps Officers, volunteers, staff

External relationships:

  • Community partners, donors, program participants

MANAGERIAL/TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY:

  • This position reports directly to the Community Services Manager or Corps Officer

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • This is a temporary seasonal full-time position based on 37.5 hours per week.
  • Hours will be 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday
  • Includes a ½ hour unpaid meal-break where applicable.
  • Flexibility is required as it relates to hours of work and scheduling.
  • The Supervisor will set the hours of work and work schedule.
  • Ability to lift/move more than 40 lbs. (18.144 kgs).
  • May be required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification.
  • Some travel within Saskatoon may be associated with this position.

Normal hours of work: Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Normal locations of work: 38 Bateman Crescent, Saskatoon, SK

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
  • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Completion of high school diploma. Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Certified Office Diploma is an asset.

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Two years of related secretarial or administrative experience is required.
  • Working basic knowledge of Office365 is required.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Good decision-making and organizational skills.

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $15.69 to $19.62 with a maximum of $23.54.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
