Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Campus/Location: The University of Guelph-Humber (207 Humber College Blvd, Toronto) is located within the traditional and treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit.
Salary: FT Support Payband: I : Min. $40.39 – Max. $46.64

About the Student Life department at the University of Guelph-Humber

The Student Life team is dedicated to supporting the success of all students by providing mentorship and opportunities which promote learning, growth, and identity development. We are a team of three coordinators and over 30 student staff that work collaboratively to deliver programming to students.

About the Student Services Coordinator Role:
Under the direction of the Manager, Transitions & Engagement, the Student Services Coordinator is responsible for the implementation and oversight of student life programs at the University of Guelph-Humber. The primary focus of the role is advising student groups, overseeing communications for the department with a team of student staff (e.g., a weekly eNews to students, social media, daily promotions), and working with colleagues to plan and execute Orientation, Convocation, and engagement events and programming geared to graduating students.

The Student Services Coordinator mentors and guides student employees and student leaders through their positions and daily tasks, manages conflicts that may arise, and creates and delivers training for student staff and volunteers. The position is integral to the University of Guelph-Humber’s commitment to a balanced student experience and for meeting and maintaining retention goals.

What you bring to the role:
Education:

The successful candidate will have a degree in education, student affairs, student development or a related field.

Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum of two years of work experience in student services and/or student affairs.

  • Direct experience working with, advising and training university students is required.

  • A demonstrated ability to work with students in a mentoring/advising/motivating capacity will be considered an asset.

  • Additional qualifications include: exceptional communication, interpersonal and leadership skills, strong judgment and problem-solving skills, proven organizational and event planning abilities, demonstrated skill in MS Office software, and the ability to multitask effectively.
